Not sure where to place this, so here it goes..

Recently saw some histories of magic on Discovery Science. They showed a short clip of Cardini's performance. In the clip Cardini was, not sure manipulating or flourishin with a ball. It looks kinda interesting.. :!!:

So just wanna ask anybody here have good sources where to learn ball flourishes/manipulation?..

where can we get billiard balls in singapore especially those types used for ball manipulation?buying a normal set for those billiard games can be quite expensive and what if we need specific colours without numbers?

First thing. Yes. I was (WAS) interested in contact juggling. But it sort of died down when i got no resources.

Secondly if you are doing multiple ball work, You might want to consider buying pool balls instead. They are made of the same material but cost less. But i am not too sure where to buy acrylic clear balls if you want them though.

hmm.. billiard balls!!! i like it. looking for a reasonable set?.. just get a basic wooden set of multiplying billiard balls... cost about SGD25 i think. or if u want something more cheapo, i think gician sells a small and cheap version but i suggest u pay abit more for a better set.

better still, if u can invest about SGD40, go get a vernet set. it is a set of shiny silver balls with studded rough surface, allowing you to have a better grip on the balls.

if you want to go pro, go get silicon billiard balls!!!... alot of magicians say that the best ones are from fakini. but they cost around USD160 a set. The good thing about these silicon balls is that they have super good grip. on top of that, they can bounce. although that sounds stupid but having a set of bouncing balls can allow you to make your act look more impressive.

There are some more affordable silicon ball sets out there in the market. From what i know.. there's this set available from murphysmagic called the "DMSB" >>> Dream Multiplying Silicon Balls! it comes with a dvd and two gimmicks. sounds like a good deal but i have no idea how good this set really is.

Then there's this set also available from murphysmagic called the Manipulators Multiplying Billiard Balls by Arlen Studio. It is said that they are even better than silicon balls. But i can't be sure how true this claim is. But i intend to get a set of these. mayb once i get them, i'll put up a review on it.

Till then, best of luck to all those billiard balls enthusiast!

LOL... yeah the DMSB comes with a DVD and it's a good alternative to people who don't have the moolah for Fakinis (sweet!!!). You can view a short intro of the video clip here

I don't really like the look of the silver Vernet balls, kinda ugly but yeah the grip is there so it's good for performances... I think Gordie has a set and quite likes it, if i'm not wrong :)

murphysmagic.com has many different kinds of balls, but a cute and cheap set for beginners to try is Multiplying Sponges by Goshman... The magician displays a red sponge ball at his fingertips. With a wave of the hand the ball multiplies into two balls. Another wave and now there are three balls. Finally, the magician displays four sponge balls at his fingertips! Kinda cute, you can then follow up with a sponge ball routine... penguin magic should still have the online video, check it out... it looks really cool!

You need the weight for contact juggling, so not all balls are suitable.

Haha, up close, the vernet balls sure do look weird (even gross, maybe), but from afar, they look great. But yeah, until I can afford some Fakini balls, vernet will be my choice for this great effect...
