im looking for a fire on palm effect that you can show your hand clean after the effect(performed by cyril).anyone here knows of any such gimmick?from what i know most items on the market have to have this gimmick around on hand and is quite dangerous

I own Pyris and I must say it gives a very visual and unique display of pyrotechnic. Take note that you won't be ending clean, you will be ending with a coin :)
Zippo fluid, a lighter and a palm are all you need to perform the 5sec effect.

Does Pyris have any gimmicks? Considering to get one of those ^_^

LarryDK - May 29, 2006 03:31 PM (GMT)
Haha, No, he din end it clean.
I think he did use Pyris, which then ends with a coin, and did a back p***, he then did a misdirection and ditch the gimmick. :)
Juz my observation, if there is any fire palm that is clean in the end, i will surely be interested in it. :)

Pyris in itself is a gimmicked coin. The idea is so simple but the effect is fantastic. In fact I bought it for its price even though I already knew what it was from start. Fantastic because unlike the other flame on palm gimmicks, Pyris shows a coin at the end while the rest...you know.
Larry you may be right on Cyril's fire on palms though I think his was electronic. Pyris requires a live flame to get the gimmick going. :)
LarryDK - May 30, 2006 08:36 AM (GMT)
Oh, anyway, i not guessing the method on how he did it. Just wan to tell some members here that, there is always a way to make it look clean, even though it is not clean.
And it is always possible that there is a ignitor in the jacket, lots of possiblities, only up to ur imagination. Dun tell me abt burning ur wear, because having anti fire material is easy to get, and a magician like cyril, he is too rich to worry abt the cost of making such a jacket.
Ning - May 30, 2006 03:59 PM (GMT)
I think so far people who use this have no complaints really :) It's a good pyro effect... sweet!!!

I think I saw it too. Definitely wasn't clean... ;)
(But on lighter note, I never noticed until I found out Pyris exists... :P )
dovemagic - June 18, 2006 07:47 PM (GMT)
I used, seen & own a copule of fire on palms...the BEST is the version from Japan by Mr Sakoh.
Hope this helps :)
vennomz - June 19, 2006 03:40 AM (GMT)
so how do i get the fire on palm by mr sakoh?any dealers or contact?
voodoolong - June 21, 2006 12:05 PM (GMT)
Do any one have other suggestions? Because i think the pyrius it comes with a coin? it night most probably be a us coin which might be abit not practical and that prople will think that it is the coin that is making it.
LarryDK - June 21, 2006 02:41 PM (GMT)
To me, its not the coin that matter, its the way u handle ur talking abt the coin. To them, its juz a simple coin.
Daraketh - June 21, 2006 03:12 PM (GMT)
Every other fire on palm requires you to hold a gimmick which u cant show to the spectators.. and they arent as easy to ditch as a coin.
so isnt it better to produce a coin from the fire and end clean? if you dont want to produce a coin u could always sleeve it or backp*** it and ditch it later.
voodoolong - June 21, 2006 03:24 PM (GMT)
O ok thx...Anyone knows the retail price of it? It is like 40USD for 1 right?
Markiebeth - June 21, 2006 03:59 PM (GMT)
Correct, that is the selling price on the web. Rather costly for the gimmick but then again the effect makes it all worthwhile. Think lighting your cigarette with flames from your palm while every other table stares with mouth wide open, yup that's the thing.
With regards to what Larry said I cannot agree more. People do not bother much about the coin. For me I will vanish the coin immediately after producing it or simply s***** it. No issue if you know how to handle your audience properly.
voodoolong - June 21, 2006 05:37 PM (GMT)
Just 1 question. Does it need like a lighter? lol!!!
Markiebeth - June 21, 2006 06:03 PM (GMT)
Yes, you need a source of fire to start the flame unlike the electronic devices or those with manual ignitors.
voodoolong - June 22, 2006 06:35 AM (GMT)
LOL...then you still need a lighter brfore lighting the cig lol!!!
LarryDK - June 22, 2006 11:32 AM (GMT)
Ah yo, there are tons of way to make it impossible looking.
IF you got the money, u can do anything u wan, juz that. If you dun have the money, then work on ur presentation loh, i sure there is a good way to make it happen.
And if u are super poor, dip ur hand into zippo and then light it up, then u got a impromtu fire on palm.
voodoolong - June 22, 2006 03:35 PM (GMT)
lol!!!!! OK that is fire hand not fire on palm lol!!
Ning - June 22, 2006 03:48 PM (GMT)
Well, it has been done before. Really!
:) Just make sure you numb your skin with ice.
Saves you some $$$ on gadgets cos it's au naturel... wuahahaha...
lllusion112 - June 23, 2006 05:18 AM (GMT)
DANGER!!! TRY IT AT YOUR OWN RISK..........
If you can't find zippo fluid, just get some deodorant and spray on ur hand while contact the wet hand onto the flame.
(make sure your hands are still wet by the spray as it will nt work once it is dried up.....)
Aloy - June 23, 2006 05:20 AM (GMT)
DO NOT try what Ning and Illusion112 said. It is dangerous and very likely to land you in a hospital.
Markiebeth - June 23, 2006 06:40 AM (GMT)
Agreed with Aloy. I tried the zippo fluid thing with dried hands before and it was only a matter of 3seconds before I had to slap my hands against my jeans to get rid of the flame which was having a good time burning me.
voodoolong - June 23, 2006 08:03 AM (GMT)
LOL!!! YUP!!! sometimes the zippo leaked because of excess filling it also burns your hand when you light the lighter lol!! got burnt before...
SO DON TRY IT FOR THE GO'S SAKE ^^
Ning - June 23, 2006 08:44 AM (GMT)
God... this place is so lacking in serious pyromaniacs... where's Ren??? :( I miss him already!!!
Ning - June 23, 2006 08:44 AM (GMT)

Just another suggestion if you still wanna do a very DIY way of fire Palms... Get SUGAR. Just like the firehouse from swensens...
From a my Food Science point of View....
Sugar AKA Sucrose is a Carbohydrate, made up of Di-Saccharides, which are made up of Mono-Saccharide, Glucose and Fructose. There for in Oxygen it will be able to oxidise aka, Combustion.
In Lay Man terms, Just get get a cube of sugar and add fire.. you can even get to eat it. just remeber to put out the flame first.. Lolx
Aloy - June 26, 2006 01:06 PM (GMT)
Wah...please guys....dun give these kinda advices....
Don't try all these stuff guys. Fire is DANGEROUS.
If you use it, use it safely.
yong_tianadeline - June 26, 2006 02:26 PM (GMT)
Fire is a good servant but a bad master!!
Don't play with them unless you take good precaution. Even then you have to be really careful!!

Sugar does not combust like that, trust me on that one.
You probably meant the solid fuel that they used (easily available from any outdoor camping store).
But the flame would not be as good as one that works on liquid fuel. In addition, liquid fuel combusts easily and can be lit with a flint.
ming - June 26, 2006 03:55 PM (GMT)
With my limited knowledge on the subject, I have to agree with gordie about the sugar. Sugar does not combust. Thats why if you heat sugar too much, you end up with something black. You can try in your kitchen.
Magicdow - June 27, 2006 12:40 AM (GMT)
Whether it'll combust or not, who'll be so stupid as to put on the palm and burn it?

ok. In science (chemistry) term, sugar does not combust.
It will decompose.
This is because it is atomic structure is basically a carbon ring (either in alpha or beta form).
If you are talking about fructose etc, that's even harder to burn as it is basically disaccharides with 1,4 glycosidic bond.
It will decompose but never burn merrily like candles. :)
If i might just add. Swensons also use solid fuel.
When sugar is being burnt, it gives off an acrid smell.
You don't smell that in Swensons do you?? :ph43r:
