Ben - September 16, 2005 12:00 PM (GMT)
It's all about personal preference. Bicycle cards are most common for card magic i suppose.

well, if you're going to do magic, then i suggest that u dont use the black tigers/vipers/ghosts cause of the design... i mean the spectators will somehow link the special cards to gimmicked cards, get what im saying? so yeah the effect might not be as strong.

Jeremy - September 17, 2005 05:11 AM (GMT)
thaddus, i won't ever use the ghost decks for manipulation because they aren't really THAT thin, and they aren't really THAT cheap.

Try aviators instead.

And i think its time to clear this misconception, Alladins are the so called 'best' for magic IMO. Look, you don't see someone carrying a black deck everyday, and the moment you open your deck, the spectator would usually go,

"Woah, nice cards, where did you get them?'

Usually, you don't reply, because then they won't know right?

WRONG.

They'd automatically assume that you got it from some magic shop.
Then they start preparing to catch you or set up that impression that, hey the cards are rigged kinda thing.

Its WORST when you're using a black invisible deck.

anyways, alladins are also 'better' for magic cos they see those cards lying around all the time. They would automatically assume you got them from your neighbourhood drugstore, taking the heat off the deck.

If done with the right attitude and presentation, you can even introduce a stacked deck face up for them all to see momentarily and get away with it.

And, alladins are relatively cheap.

However, i said, 'better' and 'best', simply because the deck used really doesn't matter.

Remember the 3 aspects of magic? Skills, Presentation & Knowledge.

thaddeus - September 17, 2005 05:17 AM (GMT)
ok. Thanks everyone. When i got my decks from the secand run , i will do manuplation using ghost and normal bikes to two diff audience. Then , i will post a review abt the reaction.. Currently deciding on single card production.

Blackwing - September 17, 2005 11:50 AM (GMT)
Its all about personal preference. I use bikes all the time. However, after reading Jeremy's post, it makes more sense to use Alladins. Seriously, the only reason all of us use bikes is because we're following the Americans. And, the Americans can purchase bikes from their neighbourhood drugstore all the time.

Oh by the way, eagles aren't that good but shapeshifters are perfect when you do it on eagles. Its because eagle cards are hard.

thaddeus - September 17, 2005 11:53 AM (GMT)
haha. following americans? ok. Black Wing , eagles are not for shape shifters... blur... eagles are good for nothing.. for shape shifters , you slould use more springy cards like bikes or alladins.. actually black tigers are the best , but people will get suspicious and the reaction may not me that good after all.:P

Alexander - September 17, 2005 11:59 AM (GMT)
Aiyah, if your magic is good, they wun be SO SO SO supicious and affect your 'magic' so badly. Please. Its not the cards, it could just be you.

thaddeus - September 17, 2005 12:01 PM (GMT)
yeah! correct! The reaction depends 90% on your skills and 10% on the cards!

LarryDK - September 17, 2005 04:58 PM (GMT)
Ya,

And 90% of the post are junks while the 10 % is useful.

Seriously, if u can do it, means u can do it. if u cant, it means u cant. No point saying which deck is good for wat, its on urself.

U use a GHOST deck to do to a audience and use a normal deck to do to the same audience. Wat u expecting from him?

To the audience, oh, a white deck. oh a blue/red deck. Thats all he is thinking. Who cares abt ur deck?

yes i agree with that thaddeus. try giving blackwing e worst deck u can imagine n he can do a pass in ur face, give bone n he'll cut it into 52 packs. ANYWAY my point is, thaddeus, u're contridicting urself. swinging arround. can't u make a stand

Jeremy - September 17, 2005 05:25 PM (GMT)
well said alexander.

And yeah, bicycles are the 'alladins' of USA. thats why they use it.

thaddus, i'm not asking for comments or seeking opinions. I'm TELLING YOU.

Its ultimately your skill and presentation that matter, you could use your black cats and amaze your spectators for awhile for the wrong reasons (that the deck is pretty), and not your magic. so whats the point?

Life is full of colours, but i prefer my decks red or blue.

nicky - September 17, 2005 05:50 PM (GMT)
ya lor.. even if u are using a black tiger.. if u perform well enough they won't catch anything.. n after the performance u can let them inspect the deck.. or even before if u are not using a stacked deck or if u have something else in there.. that will keep them thinking thru the day how the hell u achieve those effects with normal cards..

BuaYa - September 17, 2005 06:57 PM (GMT)
Hmmm. Should I go with the animal vomit coloured deck or the blue deck.

Honestly, the cards should NEVER be the star of your show. It should be you. Its all about a personal connection between you and your audience, and then the magic, and finally the props. Not the other way around.

Blackwing - September 18, 2005 03:41 AM (GMT)
Thaddeus, the 'shapeshifters on eagles' thing is my opinion. I love doing shapeshifters on them. It just looks good. ITS BASED ON OPINION.

Call me blur once again and I'll sweep you the next time we meet.

thaddeus - September 18, 2005 12:38 PM (GMT)

Hey Jeremy. No need for such harsh words. He just causes a difference in atmospheric pressure on a specific area of tension.

Just Kidding:p

Anyway guys. No use getting so upset over him. Learn to live with it.
