Title: Colour Change
7heavens - September 25, 2005 05:06 AM (GMT)
Is there any colour change that you all would recommend me to learn? I don't really like erdnase colour change. Thanks for your replies in advance. :D
Blackwing - September 25, 2005 05:41 AM (GMT)
pass changes are always the nicest. However, they take months to master. Betram changes look pretty good. Shapeshifter is one of the easiest to learn and it looks really good as well.
7heavens - September 25, 2005 05:56 AM (GMT)
Where can i learn the shapeshifter?
Blackwing - September 25, 2005 06:36 AM (GMT)
Hmmm, there are many pirates around. Ummm try getting the video from Ellusionist.
MinistryOfBicycle - September 25, 2005 09:27 AM (GMT)
i learnt it at penguin magic with the trick jokers wild :D
Moondust - September 25, 2005 10:38 AM (GMT)
That video doesn't teach you all you know about the change, so here it goes:
Based on experience, Shapeshifter works very well if the card starts from a convex position and ends in a convex position. Use your right ring finger to "stop" the...err... change (can't say due to exposure).
Another common mistake is to bow the card way too much before executing. Try practicing so that the bowing is minimized and you'll realize that the change will actually be much faster.
Lastly, don't underestimate the practicality of the Erdnase Colour Change. The change can be extremely shocking to the spectator if your handling's correct. Don't make the mistake of visibly pushing the face card foward. Check out Gerry Griffin's Lucky Sevens for a trick where he makes four 7s appear at the top of a deck using the Erdnase Colour change. His handling is simply, functional and uncomplicated.
Don't do Betram unless you can do superb Tenkai steals and you know your angles very well.
Hope this helps.

Hey try a move called the wink change. I have a video with me here. lol its really cool but there are angle problems.
Andy - October 2, 2005 08:08 AM (GMT)
Top Gun by Vinny Marini is quite a nice variation of the erdnase.
It allows you to open your fingers and your hand is above the deck too.
Alternatively, you can get the DVD "Shoot in Hollywood", where you can watch and learn how to perform 8 different color changes at a go.
R_jayz - October 2, 2005 09:37 AM (GMT)
I normally do Erdnase, because my shapeshifter is too freaking obvious...
exohordon - October 2, 2005 09:48 AM (GMT)
Check out Daniel Garcia's Ego Change from Vol 1 of the Daniel Garcia Project. One of the most visual changes.
thaddeus - October 8, 2005 04:25 AM (GMT)
I recommend the snap change. It is not so obvious like the shapeshifters but it is quite angle sensitive. The reason why i don't recommend the shape shifters is because even Brad can expose. When i was watching the demo at ellusionist(Brad Performing) and i knew how to do it after a few minutes of brain storming. the snap change is less obvious only if you get the angles right and do the secret fast. The snap change is not the best. There is another killer called the pass. But same as magic, it will take about a month to master. So , if you have the patient , go try the pass. You can get it i think on ninja 2. If you prefer to learnt fast , try snap change. I don't know where to get snap change as it was my friend who don't know how to do it exposed to me. Gd luck! B)
Mod's note, please read thru your post first before submitting. I had to edit so many spelling mistakes.

I don't get how you can say that the snap change is better than the shapeshifter.
The shapeshifter is better in so many ways.
360 degree angles.
Millions of variations.
Impossible to flash if you actually practice it.

The only reason why i don't like shape shifters is because of the exposure. Even brad do so nicely. Perfectly trained and I am severly noob can figure out after a few minutes of brain storming lying down on my bed ! And shapeshifters has turn into a kind of cheap. Free websites(I hate them to the core) has been exposing them! Here is one testimony:
venue: At a birthday party
Me: Hey Chris! Can i show u a trick?
Chris: Ok (and calls others to come)
Me:....................(doing the trick)
Amos: Hey! i know how to do that! I saw it in this website!
Every one started to look at this website.
I am kinda like pissed off. But next. I perform my levitation(King rising) and the effect was fantastic! Then , i performed my snap change , they was like : Whow! how did you do that. So , over all what i think is that snap change is better than shape shifters. But the clolour change which i think is the best is still The Pass.

Funny you still give advices even though you admit you're a severe noob.
BuaYa - October 8, 2005 02:18 PM (GMT)
Um... I like the Erdnase colour change the most. ^.^

IMO, if u walk up to a person and you say "hey, look, i gonna make e card change" and u immediately do a shape shifter calling it a "card change routine" then i'll not be supprised that u got busted.
If u construct a good routine together with the shape shifter in it i dont think there will be any problem :) Ultimately, most import part is practice well. Don't youhink the DL is obvious too when we do the ACR? but if we practice it went well too.
Anyway, my fav is the Erdnase colour change too! it's cool.

Theres a reason why its called the CLASSIC colour change :) love it too.
oh just to clarify, passes aren't colour changes, its basically a utility move.
Utility moves can function like (like, not as) colour changes, but the converse isn't true.
I agree with fume, recommand using colour changes incoperated into routines itself (ACRs, for eg).
My favourite colour change, Louis (something) flip move. Can't spell his name or the move completly.
Navarrone - October 8, 2005 05:30 PM (GMT)
lolx...i don't understand why don't u like the erdnase colour change....it's nice...isn't it...and it is the most believable....
unlike the shapeshifter where actually have this corner problem...if u know what i mean....but not very obvious....
Blackwing - October 9, 2005 03:51 AM (GMT)
If you don't like the shapeshifter, you should try out the classic colour change. Its really beautiful. With enough practice, you should be able to change the card twice.
BuaYa - October 9, 2005 02:05 PM (GMT)
Incarneto that was so helpful-.-
Anyways. If you don't like the Erdnase/Classic Colour Change, you can always make modifications...
Vic - March 11, 2006 05:29 AM (GMT)
Yea. Its just practice to make it flawless... Also... why are you digging up old threads=.= :off: Yeah.. Its ok actually =) since you have an opinion to voice
<Aaron> - March 11, 2006 02:56 PM (GMT)
Erdnase colour change is one of the easiest and nicest changes around..if you do it properly... however..nowadays..more people know about the p**m**g used by magicians..so they do in fact know where to look...haha ^_^
there are a lot of colour changes around..just see what you like..easier one are the charlier colour change..tenkai..etc etc.. ^_^
Mystifier - March 12, 2006 03:54 AM (GMT)
Spin change looks fantastic when done properly.
xabi alonso - March 13, 2006 03:43 AM (GMT)
I'm rather fond of snap change.
nofear808 - March 17, 2006 03:32 AM (GMT)
if you join ellusionist forums or become a member there they will give you a free video of the classic colour change. requires realplayer to view though.

Great. Just great.
Very soon, the erdanse change will go the way of the balducci too. <_<
bigbadwolf - March 17, 2006 05:07 AM (GMT)
although if done properly, the change really look good.
but i have seen people showing half-practice color change that really gives the game away.
Initally when i was just a layman, i could tell how the classic color change works.
its that exposing when its not practice well.
xcm_ man - March 17, 2006 10:56 AM (GMT)
Personally, I like the betram change, ego colour change and the snap change
sand king - March 17, 2006 02:06 PM (GMT)
erdanse change is the best... short and sweet... i agree with aloy.... its getting gay... exposures....
pph3cy - March 17, 2006 03:03 PM (GMT)
I personally using Erdnase colour change pretty frequent. it really have different variations in achieving the effect. Simple and yet visual. I used the One-Handed Top Palm as a kind of colour change too.
Daniel Garcia's Ego change is brilliant. Incarneto perform perfectly.
Yeap, Jeremy point, The Pass is a utility move. But like Blackwing, i uses it as a colour change. I use the Midnight Shift for my colour changes too.
jonatha - March 23, 2006 06:36 PM (GMT)
is there a different between Classic colour change and Erdnase colour change ?
bigbadwolf - March 24, 2006 03:42 AM (GMT)
its the same isn't it?
<_<
bryanne - March 24, 2006 04:27 AM (GMT)
go get color changes by jay noblezada,he is a good teacher. :P
exohordon - March 24, 2006 09:26 AM (GMT)
Not many people use the Midnight Shift. Its one of the more under used card sleights out there. I like it alot and I think its one of the best out there.

Paradoxt - March 24, 2006 11:47 AM (GMT)
I got an ellusionist vid that teaches a pretty good colour change. But you need big hands though.
bigbadwolf - March 24, 2006 12:00 PM (GMT)
E sold a video on color change? what is the title?
other than shapeshifter, there is none that i know off. (don't tell me is the spin change or classic color change)
[LV] - March 24, 2006 05:11 PM (GMT)
u know more change, u got more choices to change when u stuck in a DL or maybe u "miss" a step in your ARC, u still can use another change to save the whole trick.
maybe.... i know ECC, SS, BC, OHP (watever, i just make up the shortforms. haha), and try to learn more. as i believe it will come in handy one day.
