The method's clever but I don't find it practical to use in real world situation. Maybe its just magician's guilt.
Peter released A.E 2 not too long ago. It looks better but not gonna risk it till some positive reviews come in.
If you want my opinion, save your money and get yourself some Ben and Jerries.

I have A.E, and is getting A.E 2 in about a week.
Will post some comments here.
A.E takes a bit of setup, not exactly an impromptu effect.
However, it will fool those who are familiar with the 'normal' penetration effects.

The methods are totally different.
I found out that AE2 isn't for me too.
