"-.- Juz spend the money on a gift and then give it to ur frenz.
it is the though that counts and not the price of the gift.
Unless u are trying to impress everyone in the party that u can do magic. Then thats different.
I can say that never try to do magic in a close frenz's birthday party because the chances u screw up is very high. With people around u and flaming on u. Well it is so dangerous.
I did it on a few frenz's birthday before, but i onli do it when most of them have left and onli him and a few is still around, then the situation can be handled easily. :)

I agree with Larry. It's the thought that count. Don't save a birthday gift and use magic as a substitute. Unless you're gonna produce the present using magic. Ok I don't know what I'm saying...

The birthday trick! Where he/she signed on the blue back cards, do a few routines and show him/her that the card he/she had just signed turned into red back card! and whats more is, it has a birthday message on the back! <_<

Isnt that Dark Card? Hahaha.
I think performing on Birthdays isnt veyr nice, its like turning the Spotlight to you the Magician, instead of the birthday boy/girl.
Maybe like Larry said, when half the people has left, its alright to show a couple of trick but dont overdo it. :P

I bent some cutleries for my parents' birthday this year into an art piece, and glue them on a stack of cards. When I was presenting it to them, i wrote birthday words on a piece of paper and burn it, followed by rubbing the ashes on an Ace of Hearts where the messages appear on it. They were so touched!
This will save you money, and they will have a gift and also magic. ;)

Yeah i agree with dtjk, you shouldn't perform magic in a birthday party of your friend unless he/she invites you to do it to entertain his/her crowd. you don't want to steal the attention of the birthday girl, boy.
You won't want another magician to steal away your audience during ur performance rite?
