Title: Possible?
vennomz - November 2, 2005 09:40 AM (GMT)
is it possible to obtain a spectators thought of number or letter without any stupid maths equation?

exohordon - November 2, 2005 10:50 AM (GMT)
Are maths equations stupid?
I thought it was the geniuses who came up with them.

| Yes, but not 100% |
yeh like what magicdow said not 100%
for alphabets its 1 in 27
for numbers its 1 in infinite

I thought alphabets only have 26 letters? :P
illusionist - November 2, 2005 12:13 PM (GMT)
I totally agree with magicdow.. but there are others ways you can do it to get a 100% without using maths :D
Tremonti - December 4, 2005 02:06 PM (GMT)
you might wan to try david blaine's number pick.. not 100% but chances are high!
iNvIsIbLe - December 4, 2005 02:39 PM (GMT)
Ermm..i find that david blaine number pick sounds quite exaggerating. It is because he is like using mind to read the person's thought of number without any clues or equation..?? Cant be possible right?
Tremonti - December 4, 2005 03:05 PM (GMT)
Hmm.. actually i've tried his number pick alot of times already.. and altho its not 100%.. i'd say its abt 70%.. you have to rush the person into thinking of a number and not give them too much time to think..
Because the principle that Blaine uses is sort of like wad number first comes to mind for a lay person when those sets of instruction are given..

Sometimes a person names a number that is significant to himself/herself. I personally do not like this method.

ya me too..Because the possibility of getting the number is not very high.If using a set of force instructions, the audience may feel suspicious too.So i normally prefer to use cards for mind prediction.
Jeff Gan - December 5, 2005 02:42 AM (GMT)
Thats the beauty of mentalism. You can afford to get stuff wrong once in a while.
Its just how you present it.
my 2 cents.
StrykerZ - December 5, 2005 07:46 AM (GMT)
Just use a swami.
A center tear will do too.
Anyways there are ways to actually force numbers or cards on people subconciously through what I like to call sleight-of-tongue.
But then again the force is never 100%... ever.
Lefty - December 6, 2005 02:01 AM (GMT)
I agree with the method tremonti used, i ever do the 1-50, 50-100. and do it to three individual, and get them correct. Dont let them think for too long.. B) The funny thing is that they never ask why is there requirement..

i think math equation are fascinating, and its application in magic is numerous and ingenious. Pls dont underestimate the power of math.
iNvIsIbLe - December 28, 2005 03:18 PM (GMT)
Ya..sometimes you think about the equation that make this magic effect works is quite impossible too. So that is the power of maths! I can say that those people who created these equations are indeed super clever. :D
GordonLi - December 28, 2005 04:54 PM (GMT)
math genius or not, using complex mathematical equations is not very magical. There are exceptions though (eg. the elephant).

PuB_Evo - December 29, 2005 07:29 AM (GMT)
Thats what is happening to Mentalism. Its not a 100% working method for a fee choice! -_-
