Title: Big Problem With Rubber Band
Lefty - November 9, 2005 04:52 PM (GMT)
2 days ago i just bought Band Shark DVD, the question is where do i get rubber bands that are more elastic than the normal ones as those tricks really require you to stretch the rubber hard.

HAHA, Thats true, those good quality rubber bands are very hard to find.
Maybe u can do a search at yellow pages. Or the dealer help maybe can help..
Personally, i dun like rubber band, leave a smell in my hand, and always make my hand pain.

You won't be able to get them here in Singapore. The better ones I've seen comes from USA and Australia. You can order them from the office supplies stores online or you get the "best" one from dealers. The dealers will be able to get the coloured ones (Which u can find in book stores here) and the yellow bands.
Sometimes you can find some in Popular book stores. The soft bands are a bit translucent but small. If you want to do CMH, this will work fine.

this smell is because rubberbands are made from rubber.
you'll definitely come across this smell again in the near future along with other wonderful smells

Most magicians who do rubber band magic would recommend #19 rubber bands.
They have a larger diameter and are more elastic.
Pm me if you want some.

Right, #19 rubber bands! Was looking for them since I found out how to do CMHs.

you can do CMHs with regular rubberbands you see in Singapore which are #17 i think.
The problem comes when you're doing other complicated effects especially with a ring.

i experience a problem with local rubber bands, they tend to give a 'noise' which might let out the technique. and way too little space to cover the action.
i may be doing it wrong, coz i never saw anyone do it for me before.

definitely no noise when the move is done.
but even if the way you do it creates a sound, i'm pretty sure the sound will be drowned by the environmental noise around you. A rubberband can only make that loud of a sound right?

Definitely something's wrong with the bands.
But then again, the flicking sounds, isnt that something quite natural for a rubber band?

I did Crazyman Handcuff with rubber bands like those used by the chicken rice seller to tye the packet. Because they smells good.
With the noise or sound is maybe because your rubber band is too tight or not stretchy or too small. What i did was beg my mama for her collection of rubber bands in the kitchen and picked those that are old(used for a long time), more loose and hence stretchy. coil the 2 rubber band over something big like a textbook or something to stretch them overnight.
take them out the next day and they shouldn't give too much noise or sound and is much easy to handle. Don't use those new tight rubber bands.. It gives the trick away~~
