Wow,i saw the demo video of Criss angel Leviation. It is really high man and incredible. If the so called "gimmick" is good and easily found in singapore,i might consider too.Haha.
Lefty - December 11, 2005 04:42 PM (GMT)
Guyz, are you talking about the levitation from ground to chair? To be honest, i know how to do but it is very very impratical to do it live. Firstly, the angel is super super sensitive and there is like no way you would want to do it, it will most prob expose the trick. the gimmick, i think a crazy to make. But if you got the spare cash, go for it if you really like it.. :)

haiyo u giving me second thoughts now.
R_jayz - December 16, 2005 11:09 AM (GMT)
i have a question for people who have this dvd... can this effect be done on an open street? like in the middle of a field or something?
second question, can this levitation be done facing the audience?
thanks in advance.
StrykerZ - December 16, 2005 12:10 PM (GMT)
Only the levitation with back view is taught on the DVD.
Well I don't have this DVD and I don't plan on buying it either, there are so many other practical and cheaper levitations out there that outweigh most of the advantages Criss's has.
Unless you are a real big fan of levitations or an even bigger fan of Criss Angel, I think you should pass on this DVD if possible.
sand king - December 16, 2005 12:56 PM (GMT)
ehh... devesh.... why do you like levitation?? i dont think levitation in Singapore is good...
if you do it at orchard road to a few people... after u levitate about half way... the whole of orchard will be around you...
levitation is angle sencitive... hard to do it in singpaore... most of the people here have only one thing on their mind... flame you!! think twice pal!!! :)
shawn
Markiebeth - December 16, 2005 01:32 PM (GMT)
I believe that if a person decides to perform a levitation effect, he/she will be aware of the angles involved and as such will not do it like you said, at Orchard when completely surrounded. ;)
dimsumdemon - December 16, 2005 02:09 PM (GMT)
I dun think its worth it, if his selling his other levitation then probably can buy. If you watch criss's vids, theres one where T.H.E.M perform before where criss lie on mid air perpendicular to the ground with his foot landing forming an L shape. Those can be examined. Theres one more where he can submerge a being 4-6 foot off the ground at central square. Those can be examined. Those are Street levitation done like David Copperfield's....or should i say...mimic his. lolx

submerge? u mean float..
btw what is THEM?
exohordon - December 16, 2005 03:53 PM (GMT)
THEM == TOTALLY HIDDEN EXTREME MAGIC
Cyril is a member of T.H.E.M
heartsofclubs - December 17, 2005 03:38 AM (GMT)
hi there,, about the effect stated by dimsumdemon.
i really would like to learn the examinable one done by THEM.
May i have recommendations on DVDs which teach it?
thanks,
Chris
Daraketh - December 17, 2005 04:23 AM (GMT)
its called totally hidden for a reason... so i dont think u can find videos on it..
btw how did cyril get into that group?
cyyssg - February 12, 2006 03:27 PM (GMT)
Hi,
I have seen this video.
It is NOT like what is seems on TV. In the Criss Angel TV
series, you see that people are around him, People walking across
the street while he performs, people at the side of him in crowded cafe when he did his levitation on to a chair. Man, it gives a FALSE impression that it is not angle sensistive and looked so impressive. What a disaapointment when I learnt how he did it. Don't waste your money buying this DVD.
Chris
Lefty - February 12, 2006 06:25 PM (GMT)
To answer to the above question, the criss angel one cannot be done facing the audience, if you are really crazy over levitation and really love what criss angel did, i think you better get this, it is more practical. :g:

Cadbury - February 13, 2006 02:32 AM (GMT)
Criss's levitation CAN be done facing the audience!!! U have to change the gimmick construction thats all. Theres a video clip somewhere in youtube.com which shows a kid doing it facing the camera. Its the same concept. Only when u have watched the video then u know why it can be done bothways. The angle sensitiveness is the same...
bigbadwolf - February 13, 2006 02:55 AM (GMT)
heh..where's is the video?
:P
Cadbury - February 13, 2006 08:11 AM (GMT)
http://www.youtube.com/?v=shINMzMRAA4I mean when u watch criss angels mastermind2 then u will understand
See... search levitation and u will get it...
sand king - February 13, 2006 12:07 PM (GMT)
umm... the effect that you levitate facing the audience is the icarus and nope you cant change the gimmick of chris angel's levitation, my friend has the chris angel one and has tried it....
Cadbury - February 13, 2006 12:13 PM (GMT)
as i see it, one part of the props have to be changed thats all.

well I dont see why it is not possible.
iamthewalrus - May 1, 2006 02:43 PM (GMT)
The prop is incredibly unwieldy and tough to make. Never let it be said that that can deter a magician. A Singaporean hobbyist may find it tough to pull the whole thing off though. Angles are very touchy, obviously, and you could seriously work it out once you knew there was a gimmick.
IMHO, it's a good lev. Actually, the Balducci was a v good lev too, but the repeated showcases spoiled the effect. For this lev, it's just too impossible to pull off properly in a Singaporean non-stage setting. Once your pesky heckler friends run to scream wah lau and poke you like mad it's all over. Not everyone is gonna be like TV where they stare bug eyed at the flying man. Even for stage the concept asks questions like why on earth must the magician be placed in that position? It actually looks awkward. You guys know what I'm talking about.
Maddened - May 2, 2006 04:30 AM (GMT)
Let's all do King's Rising instead! No need gimmicks, props, can just do it by the Singapore river sidewalk...
Or heck, for maximum effect, drag a whole crew to rig you up with wires...
OK, I guess my point is that I think levitations are overdone... And what do they really achieve? People know it's some trick... Like making the Statue of Liberty disappear. They already know it can't be real, it's some trick. So... What's the point?
(Probably I'm the only one who doesn't get all this raving about levitations... And looking at how unsteadily and jerkily Criss "levitated" from the TV show [I have no idea how he did it by the way], it just looks... awkward. *shrugs* And my God! US$100 to learn how to levitate??? Don't we all have better uses for the money? :P)
bigbadwolf - May 2, 2006 06:12 AM (GMT)
ya...i agree with Maddened.
it's too expensive to learn the Criss Angel's way...(seriously, worst dvd i've even bought  )
Gimmick is difficult to make, some materials are tough to find. and who levitate's in a way that it looks like the person is falling over?
Volume 1 was better (but he was riding on a wayne houchin's effect.)
Overall bad job, Criss.
LarryDK - May 2, 2006 08:40 AM (GMT)
Overdo, Maybe, because ever since David Copperfield able to fly, ppl are coming out things that hit as far as it can to be like David Cop, but want to be more superior, do it on the street then.
But to my point, it make no sense to go up a few feet and so? you leviate, but what u can to this leviation? Nothing. Unless you acted a storyline into it. It makes alot of sense when we saw what THEM did for their leviation, they created a storyline to it. then juz going on the street and float.
I dun know. Maybe its me.

That can never happen... I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit this, but some years back when I rewatched his Flying, I teared up. For just one moment, his magic truly touched me... *sniff*
And I agree that "street" levitations are just... overhyped. They're better relegated to the impromptu party trick to get a sluggish party started. :P
PalmLine - May 10, 2006 04:39 PM (GMT)
About this modified criss angel's levitation.... it isn't... it's the icarus levtitation... think there's a big difference.. Well... you're sincerely actually did modify the criss to look like icarus... here's the vid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sA4IoPSviw0Some comments on my you tube actually accused me of slow mo-ing the vid and rewinded it!!! haha.... right...
Anyways... the icarus lev. is not for stage.. I am ambarassed to say that I had first hand experience doing it on stage with the criss curtains by the side... NEVER DOING THAT AGAIN!!!!... so paiseh.. look like a fairy...
But for a small group impromptu... it's wicked...

infidelmofo - May 10, 2006 06:42 PM (GMT)
dudeeeee, was that you?! doing that icarus effect?that's crazy.
PalmLine - May 11, 2006 02:39 PM (GMT)
ya thats me... does that look like slow mo and rewounded ? haha...
I modified criss angels'.. i didn't buy icarus... just thought it out myself... looks good ah?
I dunno how the icarus ones actually work.. but I got my mom to help me conceal the gimmick... aiyah.. dunno how to explain w/o revealing the secret.... :P

infidelmofo - May 11, 2006 04:12 PM (GMT)
that's insane, how did you manage to change the gimmick??i do however have the criss angel levitation and was plannn to get the icarus effect. hmm, if u could share your thoughts, do give me a pm yeah. thx.
bigbadwolf - May 12, 2006 09:45 AM (GMT)
while you guys are discussing his levitation.. Criss Angel has something else on his mind.

I've got the video, and i think the method is abit too gaffed. Too hard to perform it perfectly with the angle restrictions and audience control. It's not THAT hard to make the gimmick thou, but i just feel it's not worth it.
