Title: Scorpion
Description: Ellusionist's Latest Offer

dimsumdemon - December 21, 2005 08:24 AM (GMT)
I was astound by the effects Brad tried to market the whole Scorpion package. Its finally available for you to order [IF YOU WANT TO] I went to the front web page and click on scorpion too eager to find out wat he has to offer. And i read the stuff briefyly.

Like always, they provide video footage and I downloaded them. I'm quite disappointed. Haven clubbed at Zouk before, I'm actually seeing him market something which most clubbers know.

I'm not trying to bring him down, I'm just disappointed. All the marketing of this effect seems like something awesome was coming out.

Just my 2 cents.

U talking about the 'UV light' they use at clubs? Yep, think UV light is kind of common nowadays, almost everyone knows or heard of it.

Furthermore I dont see the practicality of bringing around a UV torch to shine on something. I rather do 'ashes on hand' than this, tho the UV light will look more cool. ^_^

Ellusionist is selling Scorpion at US$114.95 too. Think its kind of overpriced.
Anybody whos loaded wants to give this thing a try?

the trailer didnt really show much.. just people getting surprised and brad telling u how people will be surprised...

i dont think a uv torch, some ink and stencil is worth that much.. and u r only able to do it in the dark. else it wont stand out.

dunno about westerners but i think most ppl already know what black light is..

It's not very hard to perform actually. You don't have to go to clubs to do it too. Just at night. In my opinion, this is actually quite cool. I'm serious, I think it's not the UV that scares people, but what they SEE under the UV. Then again, Ellusionist just proved to us that they are marketing geniuses yet again. I would buy it if it's not so expensive though.

TayYH89 - December 21, 2005 02:50 PM (GMT)
Seriously, after viewing the 'trailer', I still have no idea what the package is all about...

Dragon - December 21, 2005 03:27 PM (GMT)
It's this set of tools for you to play around with which uses the UV light to actually see the effects. Something like ghost ink. I think they have the stamp to make it easier as well.

LarryDK - December 21, 2005 05:27 PM (GMT)
Well, Think about it, how many times you got the chance to do it under darkness? Hmm, The kit is seriously overpriced. Ya, UV water is expensive, but not the torch and other stuffs. And thinking that you will be restricted to night magic, it will be quite useless. Maybe if it have an effect that shows that your veins change to the selected card, then it will be stunning.

When i saw the UV light, break through magic, i was "-.-.. so lets hope some rich guy bought it and review. :)

exohordon - December 21, 2005 05:52 PM (GMT)
Zach Allen was involved in the project.
I heard he has some neat effects with UV light.

PuB_Evo - December 21, 2005 07:13 PM (GMT)
I personally feel that the price is kind of like a "rip off"
My reasons are, firstly its main use is UV lighting which you can only use at night or dimly-lit environments. Secondly, it more to a prop where you can withold revealing information till the very last moment. For me i wont really be amaze at all for what the scorpion kit can do..
Of all, i only find the shaman cards appealing to me most.

The price SUCKS.
Hmm, how bout making your own? Just a thought.

I just did a search on singapore yahoo! auctions, and found the 'invisible ink' used and UV torches for sale. They all are below SG$5. LOL.

I personally think its a nice alternative to your normal means of having interesting revelations. It certainly doesn't suit my style because of the 'high tech' nature of it. But if the price was lower I could imagine myself with a Scorpion kit. ;)

It really isn't bad if you take a look at the kit, 2 instructional DVDs? A super sharpie? Wiregram? Shaman Cards(I don't really know how these work but they sound like good methods of forcing)? And you are not really paying for 1 'trick' its a multitude of effects and x2 if you are creative.

Yupz. Me too. Don't really understand what the video is trying to show about ... Personally, i think that scorpion is not worth it because it is overprice and its really troublesome to bring an UV torch around. I rather do a Voodoo ashes effect in daylight. Even if you want to do tricks at pub/disco, you won't really need it because most of them have UV lights.

Incarneto - December 23, 2005 02:52 AM (GMT)
The reactions.. A bit fake eh? Haha.. In spore.. you'll just get.. "eh?" reactions for scorpion ba..

fume - December 23, 2005 03:51 AM (GMT)
AHA, here's what i think.
The trailer dosent show magic at all, just some good actors( )

I mean, who wold think it's magic when u shine a UV light and something appear? Common sense right? A vodoo ash trick will serve much better.

The only cool things i like about the trailer is the scorpion(live ones) and justin miller in it(that's my personal opinion). But it dosent make the effect nice in any way.

Vic - January 1, 2006 06:07 AM (GMT)
Yeah. Brad was just explaining what the trick came with. Also, people nowadays are rather smart. They know what is UV light. As in, its being used at Downtown East Chalet entrance/Wild Wild Wet. With all these exposure, people will definetely see through it. They know u stamped something on their hand. Yeah. Don't get it. The price too steep liao.
