exchange rate is much higher now.
Currently paypal charges 1USD = 1.74-1.77USD
So its best to check out the current exchange rate before clicking that paypal payment button.
if its 100USD, then u would be paying about SGD$174 or so if u were to order now
kazin - December 25, 2005 04:18 AM (GMT)
wow.. thats a bit pricey.. who's gonna get it so far?
hanct - December 25, 2005 06:14 AM (GMT)
Even if it is pricey, I dont mind getting it, provided, someone can help us order in bulk (which I believe, there may be some discount given)
kazin - December 25, 2005 09:11 AM (GMT)
does more purchases equal to more discounts?
hanct - December 25, 2005 09:59 AM (GMT)
I just email flourishman about ordering in bulk got discount or not...waiting for reply
TayYH89 - December 25, 2005 02:12 PM (GMT)
I've bought 3 books from flourishman and the shipping is only 30USD, for 3 books. That makes one book slightly less than 150SGD each.
Just sharing my experience.
It seems like the shipping cost stays at 30USD even for large orders.

The reason for why the shipping is more expensive is because you guys are getting books which is much heavier then DVDs for example.
Mujunnie - December 26, 2005 04:02 AM (GMT)
The books are 2kg and approximately 28x22x5cm each. It is definitely worth the price, even though there are several simpler flourishes included which may already be known by the reader if he has other learning materials before this. I don't think advanced flourishers would like this book as much as I do (I'm a newbie).

I wonder why there is no online magic shop (esp local online magic shop) such as ellusionist, etc sell this book. Last time, i think ellusionist got sell this book, but after the 1st edition clear stock, they never sell again....
I feel that singapore online magic shop(if any) should order this books in bulk, and sell to us singaporean..maybe like that will be cheaper for us....
Good book is always so difficult to get..
hanct - January 2, 2006 02:30 AM (GMT)
anyone know which currency conversion engine should I use on the web that will reflect the LATEST currency conversion rate?

I think the reason why no magic shop sells this is due to the exclusiveness of this book. It is only sold thru Jerry, the author, and by Handlordz previously. I dont rememeber E selling this book (correct me if I am wrong).
Shops are governed by laws and hence, they are not allowed to order anything on line and start claiming that they have the rights to sell the item.
You can try using this
convertor.
But you would not be able to get a 100% accurate conversion rate as PayPal charges much higher than the stated rate. But you can use it as a rough gauge. PayPal charges about 0.03-0.05 cents higher than what you see on that site.
Hope that helps
CHEERS! ^_^

JaJaBinksy - January 12, 2006 12:48 AM (GMT)
i highly recomend it grate book!
Cadbury - January 14, 2006 02:28 AM (GMT)
Jerry said the book + dvd + shipping to Singapore is $140. Now the US$ is dropping, i was wondering should i get it or not
Andy - January 14, 2006 02:55 AM (GMT)
Yup, US dollar is at its all time low at the moment.
1USD is about 1.634SGD.
but of course, you can be certian that you would not be getting this rate via credit card companies or paypal. However, it would definitely still be cheaper than in Dec '05 when the rate was close to 1.72SGD per USD dollar.
A good time to shop
Ultimately, review the following:
1) Would you be willing to put in the effort to learn from the book? The book is great but yu wont have miracles just by having the book in the drawer (like me  )
2) Do you have the spare cash and willing to spend it?
If the answers are 'YES' for the above, then go get it. ^_^
By the way, one thing i have to mention is that its quite hard to learn fans from books or even from videos. :ph43r:
TayYH89 - January 14, 2006 03:12 AM (GMT)
Isnt' USD currently 1.6275? (I used xe.com)
Anyway, there are speculations that it'll drop even further, as low as 1.59. But still, it's just a speculation.
Meanwhile, mass order will also bring the average cost lower as well, since the shipping will probably stay at 30USD.
Though the book really cost a lot, it also contains a lot of material.
And like Anyd have said, the book really contains a lot of materials to learn from, and it's not reasy learning so many tricks at the same time. And viewing pictures to learn the trick makes it even harder.
Be prepared to devote a long period of time learning much of the tricks, though there isn't a need (and nearly impossible) to learn all of them.
And the fans, it really took me sometime, but still, mastering fans ain't an easy task too. I'm still trying hard.
Cadbury - January 15, 2006 03:22 AM (GMT)
So is anyone interested in buying? Can get a big group to save money...
hanct - January 15, 2006 08:34 AM (GMT)
I just try my luck a 1 weeks ago, first time using paypal to buy book. And I just receive it yesterday!
Frankly speaking, I really LOVE this book..Its huge(as big as my head), and much thicker than any of my books at home. Many illustatrations also!!!!
Its really worth buying this book!!!!
I start pratising already the moment I received it, and I realize, oh gosh, its impossible to learn all moves in this books. There are just too many of them...
I just learn up to the Hermann cut, and I am stuck there...this cut pretty not ez to execute, as it strains my hand muscle during execution.
.
Cadbury - January 21, 2006 03:53 AM (GMT)
seem like no one is interested in a mass order... :(
Asterael - January 30, 2006 03:56 PM (GMT)
Haha. I'm TayYH89's friend, and he helped me buy the EOPCF. Its a great book I should say, but sometimes the pics doesn't help much.
hanct: If you are stuck at the Hermann Cut, then you won't want to try out the Tower Cut. Its crazy to learn.
Jerry's words are funny

Hm... yes I'm LL. Do I know you? TayYH89 tells me that you are from zhss
But I don't remember any zhss people who are interested in flourishes :ph43r:
If you really want to order the EOPCF, then get a few more people to order with you. Its better this way.
There are so many flourishes in that book, sometimes I forgot the name of the flourish that I was practising
EMM - February 2, 2006 01:59 PM (GMT)
Hi, LL. I know you because I see you spin your pens. Anyway, Cadbury and I are ordering some encyclopedias, most likely with the help of Tayyh. It's been months since you've received that book, may I ask how many flourishes you can perform?
This is for me to have a rough gauge on how long I would take to be considered a flourisher.

Lol. I didn't know I was so noticeable hehe.
Er... I didn't go through the encyclopaedia a lot of times. I basically flipped through all the pages until I find some nice looking cuts, then I proceed to learn. Ask TayYH89 instead. He probably learnt more from that book than I did. I'm practising Quad Cobras and Springs and Sybils now, and in JC, you basically have no life. So = not much time for encyclopaedia.
There are flourishers who took just a year to become pro. But from what I hear, they practise for many many hours each day. You are in Sec 4 now right? You probably won't have that much time to flourish too. Take your time though. You don't want to do badly for your 'O's.
PS: What class are you in? 4E?

Are you refering to me? I also bought my Encyclopedia from TayYH.
Encyclopedia helped me get down my basics and now I'm learning cobra cuts.
EMM - February 3, 2006 01:03 PM (GMT)
Hey guys. I'm in 4N1 this year. I feel like going to ITE and hopefully go on to poly after that.
Mujunnie, I also see you spin your pens. That's how I know you guys.
Hopefully we will order some books soon.

Really? Ok! Thanks..will check out the tower cut..(too many skills to learn in this book, that i dont even know got such cut)...
Anyway, I manage to learn Hermann Cut successfully. I am now stuck at Helicopter throw cut....I stuck at this skill, cos I dont even know how it should actually look like (the pics, doesnt really show much)
I don't have money to buy the dvd for encyclopedia of card flourish liao, therefore hope someone can show a video of how helicopter throw cut looks like
This is actually a great book. Worth buying...

Hm... Mujunnie and I don't spin pens outside classrooms much, so I don't know how come you know us ^_^
Helicopter Throw Cut spins the packet horizontally away from your hand. If you use your left hand to execute, then the packet will spin anti-clockwise ;)
