That's totally BS.

I used FP on my bikes a lot and it works for me! :)

Try it out urself and see.

Fanning powder works best with cards that have air cushion cos the powder would stick to those little dents.

Doesnt work very well with Alladins or Aviators.

PuB_Evo - January 3, 2006 04:48 AM (GMT)
Fanning power is a zinc compound known as zinc sterate. Zinc stearate actually coats the cards and leave them with a soapy-like finish feeling. If fanning power doesnt work on bikes or like you mention ghosts, vipers and tigers. Then fanning power is basically useless! But you may want take note when you use fanning power on vipers and tigers because they are black in colour while fanning power is white in colour.
Get you supplies from dealers in this forum.

i once heard that we could use baby powder as a substitute, if you can't find fanning powder..

at 1st my cards kinda went stiff, but now i guess their back to normal. haha. and can still be fanned. but i wouldn't really recommend it...

i better go find fanning powder :D

bigbadwolf - January 15, 2006 06:52 AM (GMT)
 what brand of baby powder u used? what was the initial effect of it ?

[LV] - January 16, 2006 03:08 AM (GMT)
the fanning powder got instruction claiming user must wash hand after use.

is it got toxin ? then if we do the card to mouth, how ?

LarryDK - January 16, 2006 05:07 AM (GMT)
Ah, if u eat too much, ya it is not good for you.

sand king - January 16, 2006 09:14 AM (GMT)
haha, one deck for flourshing and another clean deck for card to mouth :)
better be safe then never

zomaziz - January 16, 2006 01:21 PM (GMT)
hmm.. wolf, i kinda just grabbed the powder from the bathroom..

but anyway, it's johnson and johnson's baby powder.. i used it becos i kinda got desperate, since my deck was getting really stiff.

at first, the deck is kinda powdery, and maybe stiff becoz it already is.., ya?

later on the deck kinda gets a different texture (slightly smooth), but whether it's as good as fanning powder, i dunno, since i never used it...

you could call my deck "seasoned"

bigbadwolf - January 16, 2006 04:01 PM (GMT)
  seasoned deck.

actually i prefer my deck to be a bit season and sticky. because i have very dry hands..(yeah so dry and "friction-less" that i can't even do a classic color change)

slippery cards? hmm...my handling is that good with them.

Kazekage - January 17, 2006 03:58 AM (GMT)
LOL
"Seasoned" as in 'adding salt and pepper' to your deck? lmao

Anyways, just curious about this Fanning Powder...
I've never used it so I was just wondering if it's fine or course and how it helps in fanning...
Can anyone describe it to me please? :)

yong_tianadeline - January 17, 2006 05:40 AM (GMT)
Hi..

I am not too sure. But i recall my teacher telling me once that normal powder contains a bit of starch.

Hence at first, using normal powder will make it smooth. But, once the powder absorbs water from humidity in air or hands, it will become sticky (causing the deck to become like one block of wood.. ) and spoil your cards.

Not too sure if it applies to baby powder too. So, i think its probably safer to invest in a bottle of fanning powder (which doesn't cost too much and last for very long)..

Cheerios. A. :g:

Fanning powder is very fine powder.
It helps in fanning because it keeps the cards 'stick' to each other, yet allowes the cards to slide over each other.
Here's how I think it work(notice it's think): The powder itself is slightly sticky, hence it keeps the cards together. Since there is a layer of powder between each card, the cards can slightly over each other easily.
This is what I thought, it may(most probably) not be true.

Thanx TayYH89!
I think I get the idea of the Fanning Powder now. :D
I'm definitely gonna get a bottle for myself! ;)

Vic - January 17, 2006 01:09 PM (GMT)
Yeah. The deck feels sticky but can fan really well. It helps in your fanning/ or other flourishes a lot. Yeah. I bought also. Golden Landmark sells them for $6.50
:g: got mine from there.

TayYH89 - January 17, 2006 02:18 PM (GMT)
Fanning powder can improve more than just fans. It makes your spread and springs, more even. It makes armspread closes easier too.

Kazekage - January 17, 2006 02:38 PM (GMT)
I think it really is time to get one as my deck is getting a little too stiff and sticky now.. Not the kind of deck you wanna do a fan with right? :D
