Wasn't There a Magic Class that was done there for J1 zcivic Students???
Vic - January 7, 2006 01:39 AM (GMT)
Erm. I don't remember seeing any magic class in RI... And by the way... Are you thinking of the right school? I'm talking about Raffles Institution... Yeah. Probably you could give me more details about the 'magic class' you were talking about.

Sorry pylusx, but I am quite disgraced by your pitiful standard of English. as an alumni of the very Institution you claim to be from, I urge you to type with proper sentences. your grammar and syntax is really something that baffles me.
perhaps you need revision classes with my ex-form teacher, Mrs Rosie Smith. perhaps then you'll be able to appreciate Standard English. perhaps.
damn you Direct School Application.
bluecowz: do start reading your newspapers. I'd start with The Straits Times, or LianHeZaoBao if you swing that way. Raffles Institution and Raffles Junior College are two seperate schools, even though they ARE affiliated and ARE directly next to each other (I reserve my comments about HCI). I myself have no idea what "zcivic" students are, but do note that J1 refers to Year1 JC students. how you got them mixed up with secondary school students will forever be a mystery.

Erm. I have STOPPED using improper english if you actually notice. Especially with people who are particular with it. Yeah. Fine after I read your PM. I decided. Not to use Singlish or something in this forums. And also. And wrote like this in this forum to make a more friendly feel. And, it sure seems too serious to use proper english, punctuated with full-stops and stuff here. Its a 'school groups' forum. So I'm trying to get that friendly feel, wanting to know more magis frm my school. Yes, and you don't have to repeat what you said in the pm here.
By the way. I did not come in from direct school admission.
Yeah. I'm not telling you off or something. I accept what you said about proper English and you don't have to repeat it as i have already heard you and learnt from what you said.
Thanks,
Vic

And I really appreciate the effort you took to try to explain the importance of use of proper english. Once again, thanks :D .... Yeah. So lets end the part about Improper english here as I have stopped using them :)
Peace.

Glad to see that :D
Yes, informal english is definitely acceptable. it is a forums, not much of a discussion board, and yet again not an article database. though it is quite horrendous to see that more recently posts have taken on the feel of an MSN conversation, that is, far too informal. hopefully this will change over time, and the 'veteran' members will return and contribute once more.
Anyhow, quite a few of us (your seniors) have this feeling that the DSA students are not ALL up to standard. I myself have a cousin who got in via DSA, but sad to say he doesn't really deserve it. interestingly enough I have a friend in my Civics class who's a national swimmer, yet excels in his studies. some people just get the best of both worlds eh.
Vic - January 13, 2006 03:28 PM (GMT)
Yeah. Thanks. :D You sound really formal man... Yeah. DSA pupils, some of them are just pure kiasu. I got these few DSA pupils in my class. Getting 270+ and still coming in by DSA. Yeah. Its just wierd....You were Sec 4 last year? Yeah. Cause I don't remember seeing any magicians last year other than a malay one.
Yeah. I go over to RJC rather often too. Say, 3 times a week. My CCA is over there. I'm a thrower ;) Sec 2 this year...
lol.(oops) :ph43r:
:X...Yeah.

Now...Back to the topic. Are there any magician in RI now? :D
Tham: Oh yes. I remember that there was a busking last year @ orchard hosted by RI. And one of the acts included Magic. My classmate was involved in that. By any chance you knew more about that? :g:
tham - January 14, 2006 01:27 PM (GMT)
Hmm. there are quite a number of wannabe-magis doing single tricks behind pillars to one person/a small group of people. I've seen many of those. true blue magis in RI were/are pretty rare I guess, with the exception of Gordie (who's in my batch). on these forums, 'farisamin' is supposed to be in RI too.
The busking thing simply went bad. for the magicians, that is. they got destroyed by all the performing-arts groups (I know they're supposed to be one too, but they're really too unprofessional to be counted). from what I heard, a few current sec4s were involved, though I don't know who exactly.
Vic - January 14, 2006 01:53 PM (GMT)
Really? You are in JC1 this year right? And you mean the performing-arts stole the limelight is it? That's bad... me me me... I'm a true-blue magi.... I don't know about this. But... Maybe RI kids are abit too smart. Everything you show them. They know. However, they do think a little complicated... I mean. If you show simple stuff like Two-card monte... They will be likE 'Oh My god... How did he do that'. But if its stuff that are more complicated... They will know. Yeah. And they are like hecklers... I mean. They will keep making crap guesses.... Yeah. scary..
Yeah. I also checked it out. Its ok to bring cards to school. But not for gambling. Cannot take out during lessons. Thats it. A prefect in my class checked with Mr. Paul Lim....Yeah. I was like * YAY * :D
And when I said Sec 4, I mean last years batch. Hmm... Hope to learn more from you all seniors....
Magic seems DEAD in our school.... yeah. Current sec 4s? I didn't hear of any... Want to meet some Magis studying in Ri or RJC... Can learn and share tips.... but no exposure...

Hoho me was an alumni too. There are quite a number of softcore magicians (like those who can only show a trick or two) around in RI at my time and in my batch. I'm from the batch of '04. So I presume you've got permission from Mr Big Paul Lim to bring cards to school? I don't think cards are banned right.. Considering people bringing to play dai di and stuff. I used to think Tham was 2 years younger than me, ok maybe not. Haha. Glad to see you around.
tham - January 15, 2006 01:32 PM (GMT)
haha.. Dragon! I'm only one year your junior. pylusx: yeah, the performing arts (guitar/string/players/rico/band) in RI are pretty damn good, as everyone should know.
about jamming, I dunno about that. only the third week of school and my earliest day is 7pm, cca training included. saturdays are completely out of the question too.
Mr Lim? my good buddy. RJ also allows cards, but no gambling. I doubt many people will be stupid enough to tempt fate.
Vic - January 16, 2006 01:59 PM (GMT)
Yeah. Hmm.. Yeah... by the time I go RJC dunno whether still have magis... Yeah. Hope there will be... Yeah. I'm still trying to look out for magis in my school.. Yeah....
LuGiE - March 28, 2006 01:19 PM (GMT)

I think there will be...
When you get to RJC, some of your J2 seniors from RGS should have some amount of magic background. B)
That is, if they decide to show who they are in the first place. :ph43r:
Vic - March 29, 2006 12:32 PM (GMT)
Aint no more... Only got me and 2 others. Yeah. THATS ALL. Yeah... I go RJc quite frequently for training. thrice a week?
