Lefty - January 7, 2006 08:25 PM (GMT)
:D Hi guyz and gals, I am intending to enter a new genre of magic, which is coin ( obviously which is why i post here).

So any DVD to recommend?

Hope to get your response and hopefully the reason of choosing that particular DVD

By the way, heard that culture/cultural exchange is crazy.

I recommend Bobo's modern coin magic. Cultural exchange dvd is also good if you are quite an advance magician. These are just my recommendations. :)

The DVD LarryDK is trying to point out is The Complete Introduction to Coin Magic by Michael Ammar which covers sleights of coin magic.

The DVD i would recommend has got to be Expert Coin Magic by David Roth which covers also sleights of coin magic & Ultimate Coin Magic Collection by David Roth which covers many effects of coin magic.

The hard copy book i would recommend would definitely be Modern Coin Magic by J.B. Bobo which is covering sleight of hand coin magic. I can't recommend more of this!

Enjoy your new genre to the next level of magic!

Personally, I feel Ammar's Complete Introduction of Coin Magic DVD is easier to master than David Roth's Expert Coin Magic Made Easy. Both are GREAT videos, that's for sure.

I wouldnt recommend Ultimate Coin Magic Collection by David Roth because not ALL the information is suitable for you. He teaches you how to use coin gimmicks, like Folding Coin, Cigg Thru Coin, Shells, etc. (Handlings and routines and stuff) That DVD should come later.

Coin is tough shit. But its the most impromptu magic can get. You have a coin with you 24/7, but you can only handle cards at certain times, so dont be surprised that if one day, you coin skills overtake your cards. ;)

I'm no coin guy but I've heard Ammar's Complete Introduction of Coin Magic DVD is easy to pick up for beginners. Maybe the veterans can verify that. ^_^

Ammar's one is very basic. Mainly sleights, not many routines.

But Roths Expert coin magic is basic too, but has routines. Which i feel is superior.

Thanks guyz, maybe i would try to get the Expert Coin Magic by David Roth for a start, coz i kind of not a very book person. :)

Yeah. Get that. Don't ever get Bobo's book. You really won't bother to read it(VERY boring) :P. Yeah. Its been left there on my shelve for very long already. I only read 5 pages of it. ^_^

Alexander - January 12, 2006 05:37 PM (GMT)
Very boring eh?

heh. Well, it is boring if you dont put what you learn to practise.

sand king - January 13, 2006 09:44 AM (GMT)
if you put your heart and soul into it, you will succed!

I saw coin fly upwards to another hand. Which DVD or books will teach that?

Mod's Edit:
It's difficult to get people to help you if you haven't even post an introduction in the Hellos and Intros Section.

exohordon - February 9, 2006 08:26 AM (GMT)
trucatus, I believed the effect you saw was known as payment.

The other hand belonging to the cashier.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

If you are truly a beginner, then the David Roth or Ammar DVDs would be a good choice.

David Stone's Into to Coin Magic is very good but the audio is dubbed from the French. As a performer, Stone is a very good role model. He is smooth and his sleights are performed flawlessly.

Sankey's Revolutionary Coin Magic is a little more advanced but a beginner would be able to learn a lot from the DVD.

I got Bobo's book as well but I feel DVDs would be more visual as coins are really hard to get good at. and for a beginner like me visually more exciting as well.

But well...Bobo's book will definitely come in handy for reading and finessing.

the dvd "payphone" by corey burke offers quite managable coin effects even for beginners
