Description: something you may like to know.

I am sure some of you are interested in being CREATIVE in magic.

Yea, me too.

I am creating my own effects nowadays, just to work my brain and rest my hands a while. Thinking more, basically.

I read a book called "MEGACREAVITY: 5 STEPS TO THINKING LIKE A GENIUS" by Andrei G. Aleinikov. I felt that although the title's a bit cheesy, but it was pretty useful and informative. And I am hoping to apply techniques in there to my magic.

So I would just like to share with you the 5 STEPS:

1. Quit Quitting!

Creativity's priority lies in QUANTITY, not QUALITY. It's the amount that comes first. The more you create, the more creative you get and train yourself to be. So if you want to be a creative magician, don't stop after one or two effects! Keep going on! With MORE comes BETTER.

2. Why not every (k)not?

Say yes to every possibility and impossibility. Making an elephant appear on an MRT? Don't say no, say "WHY NOT?" That gets your brain thinking REALLY hard. That will stretch your brain and mind to the furthest limits.

3. Go for a Million.

Innovate. Sometimes, a DISCOVERY can be better than an invention. A discovery of electricity led to billions of lightbulbs. When you create magic, sometimes think: How can this idea generate even MORE ideas? How many ideas can it go for? How many ideas can YOU go for? A million? More? MORE?! Then go on creating more.

4. MegaValue People

Be extremely open towards ideas that are being communicated in so many different ways. Don't even think with a box. Learn the communications of anything, be it people, cards, coins, your jeans, your bag.. anything. Let everything be communicating to you... and truly accept the ideas that come to your mind. Remember.. never say no.

5. Launch into the Genius Orbit

Try learning methods of different people of how they create their magic: learn and absorb, and apply them in your life wherever you go! Master methods of magic geniuses... keep learning and accelrate your innovational genius within your magical self!

Have fun with this bit of magic theory!

I got it at Popular. Search around those self-help sections. Or psychology sections. You can find a lot of interesting stuff there. ;)

Thanks for the informations that you provided...good job

IMO to be creative is to be someone like Sankey, Andrew Mayne, Steve fearson and T.H.E.M...simple/complicated/no sleight of hands but have an effect of maximum impact...

take a look at Sankey, his effects are impactful and the sleights simple, beginers's moves.
Andrew Mayne, ghost bill is impromtu and the effect is sooo visual

Steve Fearson, goodbye vanish is creative, I mean the name of the trick is creative LOL

T.H.E.M, after you seen their show, you know what i mean...some time they do something that's nothing got to do with magic but looks impossible and amazing, like the Flies from mouth

Me too love to read psycological books but i read more on NLP or persuasive skills...these can help in making people believe that you have real psychic when you combine your presentation with your knowledge in body languages and suggestions :off:

yea nowadays everyone is inventing their own tricks, must try to be more creative to ensure we are competitive, :g:

Hi there,

I think keeping an open mind is all there is to when it comes to preparing or bettering oneself in creating magic. Not only ideas , being creative is very much so developing a character that is suited to present any magic.

I have always believe that we are very fortunate and unfortunate being in this era where we can grab a copy of magic dvd and just learn it from the screen. We have definitely more than enough resources. Sadly we are not utilizing them well enough for us to justify that we need to read books on how to make us creative.

simple tricks like say sponge balls or cups and balls are often neglected for its training value. It allows us to dissect and study magic thru the process of learning maybe even just one routine well. And from the essence of learning them we will carry forward the juices needed for any other "new" magic we need or want to create.

yup. thats about it. :)
