Hello everyone. SMC is conducting a mass jamming session for all forumites, members and anyone who's interested in magic.

This massive jam session will be conducted at Esplanade underpass ( the massive place where breakdancers practice ).

Here's a couple of details...

Time: 3pm-7pm
Date: 25 February, Saturday
Venue: Esplanade Underpass
Theme: Street Magic

There is a theme as well. We're sticking to close-up magic aka 'street magic' because all of us perform it. We'll bring a couple of videocameras and do street magic on passer-bys. Videos will be uploaded to our site.

All forumites are encouraged to bring gimmicks/videos/items that they are willing to trade. We will conduct a barter trade at the session.

The main objective of this session is to promote bonding between all SMC forumites and members.

Don't worry all those joining for the 1st time, SMC people are generally really VERY nice and friendly IF you show respect for magician's code and each other, i.e.

- You don't expose or ask for methods, your own or other people's
- You don't do weird things like performing angle sensitive effects when surrounded or take out some prop and start fiddling with the secret in public so that everyone can see how it's done.
- You help each other and respect each other.
How to help each other if you cannot talk abt method? Well, you don't TEACH the method, but if they already shows that they know the method, and you can help them with whatever they are struggling with, then by all means help them.

Failing to keep to do those will result in a very lonely experience. <_<
And we wouldn't forget when we come back onto the forum as well. B)

For those that's planning on making ANY kind of video, note that SMC has no licence or permit whatsoever for it, so you are making it on your personal capacity.
If you are doing a video with strangers or passer-bys, PLEASE FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE, ASK VERY VERY NICELY AND POLITELY, AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE OK WITH THE CAMERA! Don't start the camera before they say it's ok to do it.

Blackwing (Nick) might need help with the general organising on the day depending on the turn-out. So if he asks you to help out, either before the jam session or during the meeting itself, it would be great if you guys could give him a hand in whatever he needs.
Many of yous have been to a few of these sessions before and have met each other. So if you see a new face at the session and he/she seems lost, go up and say hi and help the person feel welcomed, like how you were welcomed (or how you wished you were welcomed) when you 1st went to a meet.

Unless, of course, that person failed to keep the the acceptable conduct as specified above. B)

Don't have to echo what others have asked.

When you come out of City Hall MRT, turn right to City Link. Walk straight, until you go down an escalator and up an escalator again. You'll see HMV on the right. Walk straight till you see the escalator, on the right side of the escalator, there is a door. Go thru this door and walk straight and you''ll see the place.

Its a jamming session. You don't have to show people magic if you don't want to. Besides, if there's a heckler there, we can all learn from the experience.

Oh and for those of you who don't know how to go to the area, just follow the signs which lead you to the ' esplanade '.

Just a little note, hope everyone can adhere to magician's code and non-exposure rules.
i.e. Don't go around exposing methods and don't go around asking for methods. Just don't do anything you wouldn't do in the forums.

And if there are hecklers, we can all gang up on him and give him paper cuts with your cards. B)

Ya. Exposure was what I was worried about... We need a system to kill peoeple who exposes stuff. Knives anyone?

Anyway, i am VERY busy this few weeks with TEST and research papers, project.. so, well, i cant go.

Why does all the meetings fall during our tests.... Actually I intended to go, until I received the test shedule today. Could the next meeting be in the holidays? Or somewhere near the start of a term? So.. Enjoy guys, this time cannot join you all .. :( :( :(

I would love to see a few hundred people cramming up in the basement. ^_^

Exposures. <_<

When there's a meeting, 'A' might be able to make it, but 'B' might not. If another meeting is organised according to 'B's wishes, 'C' might not be able to make it.

Its IMPOSSIBLE to find a time-slot or date that suits EVERYONE. Remember, we have HUNDREDS of active SMC people. Just your luck if your own activities clashes with the meeting.

For those who feel that there's many pros there don't worry, they'll take care of you, also if there's something wrong with your technics they can guide you to improve, this is a good chance to know SMC people and also gain more ideas in magic.

Dont think theres a dress code but lets just hope this turnout will be huge so we could all know people whom we've never met. based on the newspaper article we have 700 registered members. but roughly 50 regulars! argh!
