Title: A Plea To All Users
Description: please help us

Magicdow - February 3, 2006 02:03 PM (GMT)
Please help us to make this a better place. We have deleted/ edited many posts because most of the users here refused to read the rules.

We are tired of editing the threads. Please, for all those that have not read the rules, please do so here.

All those who flout the rules will have an increase in their warning levels from now on. Please do not say that you are not aware. Thanks.

Blackwing - February 3, 2006 02:58 PM (GMT)

Repeat offenders will be SUSPENDED.

In fact, I think I'll suspend those who commit an offence. Regardless of whether its your first time or not.

We've warned you guys multiple times already.

I think you guys should give new comers a grace period, regardless of whether they've read the rules or not.

Magicdow - February 4, 2006 10:22 AM (GMT)
I don't think a grace period will work. The first thing they do when they come here is to read the rules. This is a must, would you want a new comer to expose some effects and then say they don't know anything about rules?

If they have the time to read and reply to posts, they would have the time to read the rules.

I'm not very sure about the technical stuff behind online forums but I'm suggesting maybe there's a way to automatically send a PM to new members linking them to the rules.
Or maybe make the rule page more prominent :)

Magicdow - February 4, 2006 02:01 PM (GMT)
We are doing something about new registration. I don't have the power to send a mass PM to eveyone. In fact, when you join the forum, the first you're asked to do is to read the rules right?

So one can't really blame others when you don't want to read the rules.

I think it's fair that accounts be suspended if rules are broken. It is every user's responsibility - duty even - to know the rules before posting. You don't deliberately break a rule and then expect lenience. And some rules are common sense even if you don't know the rules - like non-exposure; some of the posts I've read might not have directly exposed methods or secrets, but they have indirectly done so. Some guys use the actual word but blank out a few letters (example - amb**ious card). Most of these words are really not hard to guess and it's tantamount to partial exposure.

I don't expect everyone to agree with me; just my 2 cents worth. But I think the moderators are working hard enough. They have my vote on whatever their decision is.

If anyone wants to give us feedback, feel free to PM me.

I've got a couple of praises and complaints already.

well, i think the rules listed are clear cut enough.when some1 comes and asks "can u teach me some this and that" they probably arent magicians and are here just to learn tricks.doesnt hurt to give them a firm warning by suspending them.=)

Eh.. Magicdow or Blackwing, I think theres something wrong with the forum that has to be changed.

You see, at the extreme top of the forums, It says " Singapore Magic Circle Forums is a free forum for Singapore magicians and magic hobbists. Buy/Sell magic props from local magicians in Singapore, or exchange magic tips and learn magic tricks from each other."

If I'm not wrong, this is what makes the new people think its ok to ask for tricks. Yeah. Change that and probably the new people wouldn't beg for tricks.

Also, behind that, you all may add. Please Read the rules before posting or risk a ban imposed.

Yeps, just my 2cents. :g:
