kiddy - February 5, 2006 05:28 PM (GMT)
how to do it well? i keep trying and trying but its still so hard... i only can do it with new decks... i cant even do it with aladin though... how?

Fanning is definitely easier with new decks but to fan well, well...
You just got to practise a lot. ^_^
I used to have difficulties in evenly fanning with the thumb too!
And fanning powder helps too!

make sure u have air cushioned decks for fanning. Bicycle decks are air cushioned. Add some powder and it will fan quite well.

Yep, get fanning powder. But get your technique down first. Do not be over-reliant on fanning powder. If you rely too much on it... you will not be able to fan at all without it. Yeah. Get your technique down and practise hard... You will get it soon..
Bicycles/Tally-hos are better in fanning that aladdins. Go spend a bit more to get these air-cushioned decks. Its worth it.

errr.. yep definetely technique.. i use a relativelyu old deck from china( no 555) , no fanning powder and can do a drelatively nice thumb fan in each hand..haha even pressure and more practise..don't squish the cards...er...i think that's all? haha

hi, any of you guys can do the one handed by Jerry flourishman showed in eXtreme Beginner? I am having lots of problem getting it down to look as good as his. Cos I think the normal 1 handed fan is great but Jerry's is a more perfect looking fan from my opinion....

If you are refering to his right-hand one-hand round fan, then it's using a different technique from the conventional right-hand smear fan.
You can learn it from his EoPCF though.

His round fan looks better, but I find the grip awkward. I much prefer the "manip fan" or one-handed thumb fan.

Don mean to be rude, but what is the EoPCF?
After watching his fanning workshop in XB, i have major problem with the one hand close of Fan, and i also don know how to open the giant fan wide enough. Currently, i cant even open up to 180 degree. is there anything i can do to improve?

EoPCF is The Encyclopedia of Playing Card Flourishes which has a lot of information on card flourishing.
I can do a fan to a 180 degrees but can't spread the deck nicely. :(
