Superman by Roy Kueppers
-------------------------------
Effect: A borrowed and signed coin is bent in the fairest manner possible and handed out for inspection immediately after.
Hello guys! I've gotta say that very few effects get me motivated to write a review about them but this has got to be one of them. Lets get down to the rating scale then!
Impact: 5/5
Ease of use: 3/5
Practicality: 4/5
Many people don't like this effect, I've seen people write this effect off mainly people in this forum but I really think this is truly a gem in coin bending/PK effects. I guess to each his own, let me explain why.
The package comes in a square box a la Raven. Included is the gimmick a set of instructions and a simple ditching system. I must say when I first opened it up and read the instructions they gave, I was dissapointed even more so when I tried the handling and routine they taught.
But upon further study of the gimmick I came up with a totally different handling and routine that I think is far superior than the one in the instructions, and that I think is the main reason why people don't like it, if only they would just experiment with it a little more it can be used to devastating effect.
I've performed it quite a number times since I recieved it and the reactions are incredibly strong, this effect just hooks them in the lips and reels them in like small fish. Peoples jaws literally drop and stare in awe and silence when you reveal the coin bending and drop it into their hands.
Your patter can vary from superhuman strength to mind over matter. I personally prefer the latter. Talking about self hypnotism and changing the way we percieve things. If this were lost I would get it replaced in a heartbeat.
Bottom line is if you like coin bending/PK effects like me, get this. There is another coin bender that I know of on the market known as the Boa, but I feel this is better to use, mainly because of the colour and size of the Boa making it hard to hide. The handling taught for the Boa is better though and alot of my handling with the Superman drew inspiration from it. Be patient with it and experiment with the handling and I assure you that you will find a lot of fun performing and so will the eagle eyed spectators.
If you would like some help with it be it pre-purchase or post-purchase feel free to PM me, I'd be glad to help. :D
Angle Wise? How Bad can it get?
And i believe not every Singapore coin can be bent right?
If you use the handling in the instructions you have some angle problems but if you use another method it will be almost impossible for anyone to see anything. Yeap not all SG coins can be bent but that isnt a real big disadvantage to me, you cant bend 50 cents and 1 dollar coins but with a little modification it can be possible.
