Title: Card College 1-5
Description: Should I get it?

W3iRdKiD - February 16, 2006 10:05 AM (GMT)
I was just wondering if getting all five volumes of it at a shot would be sort of an overkill or something. Or would it be well well worth the price? Thinking of getting it now since Cynwell's having sales  but it's still quite expensive arh haha. So just want to make sure before I make the decision. Thanks to all! :D

Come to think of it, everything seems expensive to me since I'm living on zero salary but hey, that's :off:

well, hey there! haha anyway..looking at it from a singaporean perspective, you should get all at one shot since its cheap(er)..looking at it at a neutral perspective, you should still get it ONLY if you are interested in card magic... :off: looking at it froim cynwell perspective..you should get it(haha joking here.. )
but i think that you should get it la..

 Yar you brought out all the reasons why I want to buy the series. Except from the Cynwell point of view thingy <_<

There's a major problem though. I don't dare to ask my mum if I can buy the books! Scary eh! Think she'll probably nag at me haha. Got to find some way to earn the money myself. Maybe go scoop ice cream :D

yeap recommended you get it.the series cover in depth on pure card sleights and magic only....however i always prefered learning through videos......maybe daryls encyclopedia of card sleights would be of your interest?

I think it should be a good investment, from all the reviews I read. I am getting all the 5 volumes, to study them, and keep them as a reference. Like aaron19923 said, getting them all at one go is cheaper than accquiring them separately.

Of course if you are budget tight, Royal Road to Card Magic is a good investment too. Think there is a magic podcast on the internet that goes through the lessons with you, FOC. Get also a couple of good videos to motivate you while you learn the tricks.

 I like books more for some reason. Maybe don't trust technology haha. Oh man I sound like some weird fellow but never mind. Thanks! The book teaches sleights, flourishes, tricks and routines right? If I didn't get it wrong

Make sure u have the time to do the book justice.

Seriously, it takes hell long just to finish vol. 1(that is if u wish to be so sleighty, since i am talking about MASTERING them)

or of course, u can like me, use it as a reference book for sleights i need for tricks :D

btw, u might check out the ebook version (CD-ROM) for vol 1 &2 if u prefer. Its more updated than the book version.

Nevertheless, i think it is a worthy investment for those who prefer books than DVDs. ;)

haha true..i thinkl it contains photographs because it's more modern..haha anyway..what venomz says is true..you don't want to get a whole volume on stuff you probably not do..

haha anyway.. :off: scooping ice cream a bit slow to earn money..must distribute flyers.. anyway for your mom thingy..magicians always have this trick called the vanishing act where you sneak away under a cover and appear....get the hint? haha :off:

Uhh no photographs. Only drawn pictures. Line drawings they call it. Hiw wife did the drawings I think haha. Not sure. Don't have the book next to me and I'm to lazy to get it -_-

:off: Anyone has Book 1? I need help regarding one of the effects in the book. Think it's Cut to the Aces or something like that. Front half of the book. Have no idea how the trick works at all.

Yes you should buy it.. good books. Too bad loaned it to a dishonest punk who left for the US and never returned them. Will buy the complete volume again.

It's possibly overkill, but it's definitely a good investment even if you don't use all the books now.

Alternatively, there are a super lot of old but good books on card magic. You can find the Encyclopedia of Card Tricks ar Borders even. But I personally like Expert Card Magic a lot more. Both are common books, but contain a fat load of goodness. Royal Road has been mentioned to be good as well. See? There's a lot to be learned from.

Totally agreed ^_^ Books are great!!! One good book can teach you material from a whole stack of DVDs!!!! It's not a cheap investment but Card College is a good series. Maybe buy them one at a time, cos you wont be able to finish the series in a flash right? :)
