Title: Kevin Parker's Original Magic

bigbadwolf - March 1, 2006 11:02 AM (GMT)
Kevin Parker, the creator of Revolution now has a couple new tricks in his own online store.

Canz
You've probably heard a story of a man multiplying fishes and bread. Does anything out there like that exist for modern times? Say you are around a group of people, you have an unopened canned drink in your hand, but the others don't. What would happen if you could actually take your drink and multiply it right before their face, then let them choose one for themself? They would flip! That is what you're getting here. The cans don't merely "appear," they are seen to 'morph' right out of the original can. It is something you have to see for yourself, and when a spectator sees this, be prepared to watch them scream. You will be able to multiply a real canned drink into three real, unopenned canned drinks, full of liquid, then offer them one to keep.

* extremely visual
* no special cans - all cans are real, unopened, and full.
* little practice

Passing Thru
Words won't do it justice. You have to see the demo video for yourself. A coin is seen pushed through the bottom of a glass bottle and ending up inside. There are no funny jerking moves of any kind - they literally watch you hold the coin up to the bottom's bottle and slowly, clearly, visibly push it right through the glass and into the bottle, leaving it inside. There is nothing left in your hand - the coin is inside. It is visually impossible. Not only that, the bottle with coin inside is then handed to THEM for inspection and they can even keep it for themselves. No joking around. They just watched you penetrate a coin through a sealed, glass bottle and now you are letting them keep it. They see no holes or gimmicks anywhere on the bottle. You have just done the impossible.

This illusion has stumped the minds of many observers and has just plainly freaked people out. Upon learning the secret, you will immediately want to rush out and perform it.

* Extremely visual
* No bulky gimmicks
* Easy execution
* Can use a borrowed bottle
* Can use a borrowed coin
* Props can be handed to spectator to keep.

Okie, Seem both demo.

So if u are feeling very rich, i can suggest that u can get coin thru table. Other than that, i find the can expansion is kind of impractical. Because u need something, and this something is u dun really will use it in singapore. And angle is a problem, palour level will be good enough.

As for the coin, hmm its visual, but it cant be done really close up, from my point of view. Well, i cant say anymore, for u to really notice. I got his revolution before, and hmm its not worth the money to me.

My 2 cents worth

:huh: u seen the demo u can tell how he does it?

are you the carnation of Houdini? :huh: :huh: :P

i agree the Canz is a bit impractical..but don't you think the coin thru bottle and table looks good?

LarryDK - March 2, 2006 04:32 AM (GMT)
Hmm, well, first of all, i have to agree that i din own any of the effects. So its based on my spotting and my knowledge in magic, and the way he handle the routine.

First, it is a video demo, so all video demo will show the perfect situation of the effect. Second, Logical Thinking will solve alot of things, esp when u have basic knowledge of certain sleights. U tend to spot things easily. Third, the way the video is carried out makes the issue.

I cant say alot, because it means exposure to the effect. Lets dun talk abt the canz, since both of us feel its impractical.

Its the coin thru table, borrowing a coin wont make the routine special, i can borrow a coin for coin bite, understand? 2 moves inside the demo that throws out the idea to me, the bottom hand and the top hand. So observing the 2 hands gave me the idea on how it was done. And seriously, i doubt it can be done really close up, and need to be angled to fool proof it. If farid is around, he will mention that the one from ellusionist looks much more impossible. This one, a no no. Somemore still need a gimmick. :)

Anyway thats all. Well, all this is based on my observation, nothing against kevin. :)

oh...ya the "borrow a coin for a coin bite" i understand

i didn't know that a small demo video tells so much about a trick.

learn something again.

maybe i'll pick up the demo and see if i can spot anything :P ^_^

Spotting things on demo video doesn't means you'll know the exact or the correct handling of performing it. You might even get it all wrong.

Even if you're that sharp or clever to spot anything or even saw through everything, its also courtesy to not put down the effect telling the whole world not to get it.

I believe, there no such thing as lousy or bad effect.

Let magician controls the magic and not the magic controls the magician.

If you feel that its a good effect, get it.

My bad regarding this. Once bitten, 2nd shy.

As mention, its based on my judgement, i waiting for someone to prove me wrong. And say, my judgement maybe wrong, so lets dun argue whether this effect is good or not. It depends on individual and those who manage to got it, please provide a review. I am certainly waiting for a review regarding this 2 effect. :)

The Coin Thru Table Demo wasnt really clean, and its very very difficult; practically impossible.. You'll probably succeed like 1 out of 10 times? Well, just my opinions anyway.

Thats also probably why it is yet to be released. :lol:

Figuring methods out of demos are good learning experiences. IMO, when you can start thinking about how the trick is done on demos, your experience in magic comes in real handy. And, if you can successfully figure a trick out from the demo, this proves maturity in knowledge of magic. It does pay off sometimes when you start to figure out stuff.

It does not mean that your efforts are all wasted when your guessing is wrong. Because from there, you can generate new ideas, and create your own magic. I can spend my entire post on how to spot for things/moves/subtleties when watching demos but then I feel that is exposure so I won't discuss it here.

If you desire to do the figuring out, I just have to tell you that prepare to watch the demo at least 50 times and you'll have to dig out your entire library on magic on your shelf and in your brain.
