Description: Royal Road to Card Magic DVD set
bigbadwolf - March 2, 2006 05:36 AM (GMT)
This set comprises of 5 DVDs..I've compared the contents of the DVD with the actual RRTCM book and its all the same.
Anybody bought Paul Wilson's stuffs before? Is his teaching good? (Comparing it with those by Brad Christian)
I seen the intro demo and i nearly doze off...(all talk but no action)
or alternatively, is there any dvd set that covers sleights, routines and minor amount of flourishes?

Hi, just a smple question to ask. Is the Reverses Intro in vol4 teaching how to do reverse pass or is the another sleight of hand in its own?
bigbadwolf - March 2, 2006 10:49 AM (GMT)
If you compare it to the book, than i think is the different methods to reverse a card in the deck

do you guys know of any places where you can get the book? i feel like getting one.

I saw the book at Kinokuniya. U can try at borders too. A word of advice, this book is rather wordy.
BAdmiNTon - March 2, 2006 12:33 PM (GMT)
oh i see..but is it easy to understand?

I think u should go down to the bookstore and see for urself. Certain people can understand words better so it varies from person to person.

some sleight you may have to read over a couple of times before you can understands what its talking about (maybe my proficiency in English is not good)
i must say, comparing the number of tricks, sleights and a small amount of flourishes to the price you are paying for, its WORTH IT. ;)
Alternatively, you can buy the Card College series. Also a very comprehensive set of books for cards magicians.
hmm...but I'm a dvd person..prefer to learn in front of the television instead of reading and visualising alone.
Ultimately, its up to you. As long its comfortable, go ahead!
my 2cents worth.
Happy magic ^_^

the book is ok... wow... dvd? Companion to the book. sounds interesting. But 5 Volumes seems to be a bit too much and expensive. Get the book then decide.

Kinokuniya carries the book? under which section and how much?
Ning - April 30, 2006 04:45 PM (GMT)
Why not see if the library has it before heading down to tthe bookshop? IMHO, DVDs are visual but books make better companions. You can take
the book with you anywhere and well, it's so much cheaper too.
Card College, like Bigbadwolf says, is a very good book series. I believe anyone who owns it will agree to that. Very clear illustrations and concise intructions. I always believe that there's very good stuff you can find in books that most vids would not be able to teach you!
Still, it's all about preference ^_^ Everyone has different styles...

checked out Kinokuniya. It's under Games section wor. They carry books like Expert on the Card Table and Royal Road To Card Magic ;)
Maddened - May 2, 2006 03:13 PM (GMT)
OMG! Card College is uber-expensive!! :o :o
Honestly are they worth taking a mortgage out for or can most of the stuff be gotten from other books like Hugard's, Erdnase's, and Royal Road?
As in, how much is new stuff?
bigbadwolf - May 2, 2006 03:34 PM (GMT)
the card college definitely covers more than than the Royal Road. It is in fact the royal road + expert card + additional materials.
I saw the list of contents before and i was tempted...but it is too expensive already. haiz...if its only on paperback..maybe it will be much cheaper. :(
BAdmiNTon - May 3, 2006 05:07 AM (GMT)
You can buy the books one by one at least you won't feel so much pain and it takes a looong time for you to finish one. :)
