Title: I Dont Know What This Effect Is Called
Description: I want to learn it

heartsofclubs - March 3, 2006 01:34 AM (GMT)
Hi there.

There is this effect which i have seen quite a few times and i would like to learn it.

I believe it is under close up magic as each time different performers perform it, they do it in an MRT, crowded place etc.

I don't think there are flaunting angles in this effect.

Basically, you stand straight in an mrt etc.
Then as you pretend to sleep, your body begins to lean forward about 55degrees or more. *meaning you're lean forward till you're about 35degrees to the ground.

The nice thing is taht you can actually stay in that position for quite a long time, before pretending to wake up and stand straight again.

I have been longing to learn this effect. May i know if there are any teach-ins, VCDs etc which teaches me how to do it?

Thank you very much,
Christoph

Hi...
Just wondering... is this the same as the one that Michael Jackson once did in his MV (long time ago)?
The description sounds the same. Seems pretty cool...

i dont know.. but i heard micheal jackson did it with special shoes.. as in altered shoes.. I dont think the magician did it with altered shoes.. I believe it's soemthing else.

Hope any one who knows this effect can share some comments and also where i can learn it.

thanks,
Chris

The effect is known as The Lean by Doug Malloy.

It's not cheap and more for stage settings.

You do have to send in your shoes for customisation.

You mean the effect that was performed by Cyril?

If you still thinking of going for it , the price is USD 650.00

There is a thread in magic cafe that talk about the lean

http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewtop...=119&18&start=0

The system i read is for stage performance. I am more interested to learn the effect used by cyril that he did in the train though.

Besides the shoes, there is another item which is not very portable that you need in order to perform.

ninku10 i refer to the one done in the train too.

But i do suspect it's the same thing.. Hmm.. It's a very nice effect. I dont mind spending, if it last a few years.

For those who comment about it, can you please direct me to more specific sites where i can do the actual purchase? I have tried the net but they dont seem to have it.

thank you very much,
Chris

The Lean.

i was wondering is there another version of "the lean"?

in this version, the performer sits on a chair, and is able to lean the chair back for quite an impossible degree.

is it a similar prop to the lean?

just asking ^_^

Oh okie. thank you very much guys.

I have seen the general idea of the product.

Hmm.. it's something which is hard to self make anyway.. It's also kinda heavy.

But, i will still save for you it.

Thank you very much,
Chris

I think Jay's one is not really magic bah. Probably some wires we couldnt see, everything's far too dark in that concert video.

But very power man, I watched that part like 10 times. Beautiful.

I think Michael Jackson has a similar chair performance in one of his concert
