Sloppy Final

the effect is pretty good, but there seem to be a problem whereby u have to take out the aces then places it back into the back again n cut to it.it dont really make sense unless u got a patter 4 it
TayYH89 - March 4, 2006 02:19 PM (GMT)
Man, I really don't like that sloppy sloppy cut. Just a little to messy(sloppy) for me.
Navarrone - March 4, 2006 02:50 PM (GMT)
Well, I think that is why it is called the sloppy aces. I enjoyed the first few times, but when the same thing is done four times, you eventually get tired of it :D

Haha.. Thats was really funny.
no wonder its called sloppy ace.
but the effect is quite cool.
Ya..

I feel that it is too sloopy. It might seem cool to magicians probably because its something "new", like a new way to shuffle cards. The truth is nobody wants to see cards shuffled that way. It'll make u look really amaturish. Everyone wants to see magic done in a proper "skillful" way, just like anyone who listens to a pianist wants to hear a perfect piece rather than a sloppy piece.

When I see the video it just turns me off not to continue seeing it.. ;)
cyngapore - March 4, 2006 07:21 PM (GMT)
 Thats one way of putting it LOL
bigbadwolf - March 5, 2006 02:55 AM (GMT)
too sloppy..i think its is his intention of telling the audience that the aces are totally "mixed" in between the deck of cards.
but it doesn't look too magical leh... :(
TayYH89 - March 5, 2006 03:25 AM (GMT)
Instead of those sloopy cuts/shuffle, why not just do some random shuffles(not as sloopy). It achieves a better effect.

h... i think its very hard to fit into a performence as it is not of my usual style
Magicdow - March 7, 2006 12:53 AM (GMT)
I actually quite like it. Layman may think that there are no sleight of hand involved since there are no flashy moves used.
Look at Lennart Green, his shuffles are sloppy too.

What I like about it is.. you perform like a non magician but the result quite interesting. But Anyway u hv your own view.
Alexander - March 7, 2006 08:45 AM (GMT)
Ya ya, reminded me of Lennart Green.
But Lennart Green is like, his sloppiness seems like its in him.
But this video, the sloppiness seems deliberate making it look like a 'move'

Exactly what I was thinking...
It immediately reminds me of Lennart Green, but with Mr Green, the whole "clumsiness" is in his whole persona.
The old geezer look, with the glasses hanging off the edge of his nose, and the mumbling patter. It's a whole package heck-care thing.
This one....erm....dun know...
I don't think it's bad, but it doesn't come across as quite the same feel either...
*shrug*
bigbadwolf - March 7, 2006 01:32 PM (GMT)
but isn't this video a bit TOO sloppy?
he was like cutting the cards all over the place. a bit like the lazy man's trick

Its funny to watch people talk about my material like this. The routine is especially for magicians and not for lay audiences. The original idea was sent initially to Steve Draun specifically for the humor of it. It was derived after a lengthy conversation regarding the work of Lennart Green. If I were to do it with a lay audience the aces would never come out of the deck and the shuffles would be performed by a participant.
Actually I would never produce the Aces for a paying audience. It shows a level of skill that is derived out of context. I would much rather hide my skill than exploit it.
Thanks for the input though, I would love to see other people's versions of a similar effect that allows for a borrowed deck and random shuffles.
Thanks allot!!

p.s. Here is a link to an effect that is a little cleaner:

Wow, mr Jamie sir, it is honoured for me that u answer the feedback yourself. Anyway I still think your sloppy final is cool.
