Title: What Next?
Joe112 - March 6, 2006 10:11 AM (GMT)
I got Xtreme Beginnerz to start off in XCM. What I wanna do next is to learn some of those cool 2-handed cut. Not mquite at the Sybil stage yet XD (nowhere near) but what should I get next to further my study in XCM? I was thinking of getting Showoff with Cards by Tudor, but he has a terrible reputation as a teacher, so I'm getting 2nd thoughts. Any suggestions?

Showoff with Cards is a Magic Makers product and Showoff is a Brian Tudor product so don't confuse the two. Showoff/Showoff 2 are great videos but I doubt you can find them being sold anywhere now although if you're lucky you might find a dealer with copies of SO2 lying around. Showoff with Cards is a piece of junk so wipe it off your list entirely. Cuts wise I guess you could start with Keone's Xtreme Kuts which is a decent video. I don't have it but looking at the content I think you should be able to pick up the basics from there. From there you could directly expand into more advanced work like Brian Tudor's, the Buck Twins' or Lee Asher's material. If you're interested primarily in sybil work you should pick up a copy of Cap Casino's C4: Capcuts and De'vo's Cradle to the Grave while you're at it too.
Brian Tudor does have a bad reputation as a teacher but if you're somehow able to look past that he has a lot of material that you will definitely want to learn. You won't go far for example trying to learn a few of the Buck Twins' cuts without learning Tudor's Bad Habit first.
Jerry's Encyclopedia of Card Flourishes is a good buy too but if all you're looking for is 2 handed cuts you should probably skip that over.

Just wondering, are the materials in the Showoff videos in Gen Ex too?

Basically yeah. Just about everything in both Showoff 1 and 2 are used in his Showoff routine in gen-x. He covers the moves in a lot more detail in the Showoff videos though and for that reason alone I think the Showoff tapes were way way better. If you can find them they're definitely worth picking up.

Oh thanks CLJ. I think I'll be getting Showoff1 and 2 by Tudor. I know a friend who has them. And yeah, I'm pretty much only interested in 2-handed cuts only. Not too fascinated by Birdy Fan and the like.

I watched some of Gen X at my buddy's house and it was horrible. The teaching was terrible it didn't help the material inside was overly difficult. I'd appreciate it if someone could do me the favour of posting the full content list of Showoff 1 and 2 by Tudor here. Thanks.
