Title: Overhand Shuffle Control
Description: Not working well for me

W3iRdKiD - March 12, 2006 03:10 PM (GMT)
Recently I've been practising the overhand shuffle control to control the top portion of the deck using an injog but as the topic goes it's not working well for me. Not sure what's the problem but my friend told me it's kind of obvious that I'm trying to keep that particular portion of the deck. She wasn't sure why she felt that it was kind of obvious but it was :o

Was wondering if my injog or maybe my finger break was too obvious or something. Just wondering if anyone could help me with this problem of the control being too obvious?

Thanks :D
Can pm me to discuss it if you want. If my description of the problem is too vague feel free to tell me thanks :)
Picking the control up from Card College by the way.

Uhh just to check. Which side of your body is facing the audience during the shuffle??

Its not abt the body la, its the presence u give to the audience, you have to do it to the sense that u are not bother abt where the cards end up in, if you show concern to the injog, you will give it away.. Try to do it as carefree as possible, talk to the audience while u shuffling, it helps.

Small injog, eye contact, patter. Should do it.

The back of the cards to the audience.

And a messy shuffle will hide the jog.

Okk. Thanks everyone

haha hey dude, well you could actually do this, shuffle, injog, run a few more cards.

Then somehow gesture with the right hand packet to your audience while talking, so they can see that you don't really bother much about your shuffle, the messier it is the better. I would just make sure that all the international messy cards are outjogged in front and there is only one card injogged at the back, without the thing sticking out like some weird hairdo... :P

Dude, one last warning, please avoid using '......' and use paragraphs.

it would be good if you make it look sloppy and give the impression that it doesnt matter how u shuffle it. Its best if u look away from the deck while executing the shuffle, just a penny of my thoughts

You could also try to do it very fast and make it look very well shuffled. Stuttering between the shuffles would make people think that you are being careful with the shuffles. And also relax when you do it.

do it casually and try to make eye contact with then. if you keep looking at your cards while doing it, they will also look at it. try to have some time misdirection after the shuffle

One word PRACTICE

Make sure you don't paused here and there when doing false shuffles.... make it look smooth and sloopy...Also throw in a few fake cuts before or after the shuffle... this will give the audience the impression that the deck is really shuffled

If you got the time try learning the pass... It is a better way to control a card right under the audience's nose.... Is this :off: ? haha

Shuffle sloppily to cover the jog. That works. ALso, don't be too obvious when you pick up the jog. Press your pinky against the jogged card to pick up a b****.
