It is perfectly legal if you are performing in designated areas like Orchard road, Clark Quay.
However, if you want to do street magic elsewhere, you'll need to get a license.

oh. so i don't need license to perform in orchard?

You can perform magic anywhere for crying out loud, I do not understand how come performance is limited only to places like Orchard or Clark Quay as quoted by TayYH89. I would have gone to jail and stayed in there for the rest of my life if the former was true...

If you wan to perform street magic for money no matter where you need a licence... If you perform just for the fun and experience of it then you do not need a licence and you can perform anywhere any time... :D

i think performing for money gets a little hard.. as you have to approach the person, ask if they want to see magic, (which is hard enough) and then ask whether they are willing to pay a token of appreciation.. etc..
just perform for the experience. totally worth the no-pay thing. heh.
if you wanna earn some cash, go do busking, or get gigs.
