Daffodil, a symbol of Hope for those affected by Cancer


Dear all

We need a lot of volunteers for the following event, do feel free to forward this to all your friends.

Event : Daffodil Day

Date : 23 Apr 2006

Time : Shift 1 – 9am to 1pm

Shift 2 – 1pm to 5pm


Location : HDB Hub &

Plaza Singapura (Tentatively)


Daffodil Day, an annual fund raising event organize by The Singapore Cancer Society, is also an international event held by other Cancer Society worldwide. We hope members of the public will be encouraged to show their support for cancer patients by wearing a Daffodil pin which will be given for every donation of at least $2.00.


The daffodil is a hardy annual flower that can push its way through the frozen earth after a long hard winter and herald the new life and growth of spring. It symbolises the struggle people have with cancer and that with research and healthier lifestyles there is hope.

We need a lot of volunteers to help to approach members of the public for their support for donation in this fund raising event. Do provide me with the following information if you are able to help.

1) Name

2) NRIC No.

3) Contact No.

4) Email address

5) Shift

6) Locations (HDB Hub or Plaza Singapura)

(The location at Plaza Singapura location maybe moved to HDB Hub if there are insufficient volunteers at PS).

:lol: I dun think Charles know me :P cuz i got this e-mail from my volunteeer organisation CDAC. :)

I can't make it for this event cuz I'll be helping out another event at Redhill area. I'm not sure if its NKF cuz my friend just tell me to entertain the kids while their parents attend the talk on kidney dialysis.

Unless you wanna help me with this instead of the Cancer Society event :lol: cuz for that event i need to entertain the kids for like 3hrs?! :ph43r:

The thread was written in that manner cuz Ning was the starter for all the volunteer stuff over here in SMC in the beginning :)

The event is pretty much confirm. But will need more infor from them :)
I'll be asking people for help and posting up the details once i get more information.

I'll need to meet up with those interested to help out as well to just work out the programmes and stuff because its not just pure magic entertainment. There'll be games, balloon sculpting, story-telling etc. So will need to discuss and delegate duties :P

Don't worry will keep you all updated about it :)

My sincere apologies...they do not need people to help take care of the kids as they are having HP volunteers doing it already..so sorry..

But nevetheless hope you all can help out with the Cancer Society event.

I can't make it for that cuz i have to bring the kids from my weekly volunteer center to Central Library for the KidsRead anniversary thingie (last min as well...)
