Title: Appearing Pole

I know this is not a new product, but am thinking of getting it for some stage effect.

Saw the following description on Murphy's Magic Supplies Website:

QUOTE

"The visual on this is incredible, your audience will not believe their eyes. Even close-up you can’t figure it out!

Put it in their hands and they still can’t figure it out!"

Can it really be done close up and can event put it in the audience hands?! According to what I understand, it has some of such limitations.

But if you placed it onto the spectator hands, wouldn't the feel and the look give the spectator some idea on how it is being done? Or there are different types (different quality) of the appearing pole, some actually look and feel that it is a real thing?

I've seen some videos on the internet, and I could actually tell that it isn't the real stuff.

Only the wise ones might figure out how it works if you let them handle the pole for too long. Most people have no clue how its done.

This effect is more of a gag or a quickie to part of your routine. You make the pole appear and put it away. There is no reason you want your specs to examine it for too long or even let them examine it at all.

If you have to let them handle it, you could just get it back quickly saying "Hey don't go breaking my stick". Most audience will have the courtesy of returning them.

Thanks guys! I think I know what to do with the appearing pole. :) Was pondering if I should get it, and how should I use it. :) Think it'll look a little more impressive if I can grab a few poles, or even the mic stand or a broom from the little container, but it is going to cost a bomb. :P

I'll just invest in one for a start..

I guess as long as the pole looks real, reasonable quality, it should be ok.

I personally use the appearing straw and I think its a real funny gag when used at the appropriate moments. IMO, more gag lines to use compared to the pole.

i think appearing straw is good for most situations. it can even be done closeup, at dinner tables. and it makes sense...
