noob_magicx - March 26, 2006 08:31 AM (GMT)
yo.. i need urgent help from you guys here.. i wanna know how do all of you season your new decks? i tried many means and methods but i just can't get my deck to be as soft and flexible as some of the other magicians i know.. so if you guys have any ways? please share them wth me.. i'm getting desperate.. having difficult time handling.. thanks a lot~!! :)

Spring the deck both ways 1000000 times.

Markiebeth - March 26, 2006 08:47 AM (GMT)
By then all that would be left is tired fingers and a very distorted deck :P

Just farrow and spring a few times, should be in good condition for performing by then.

Spring about 10-15 times to season it. (Jaspas is too extreme -_- )You don't want it to be too soft...

Why do you want to season your deck anyway... I've always prefered the feel of new decks

when i first open a pack, i will fan like mad, then start to spring.... then just play around with it for awhile and poof seasoned! haha well try not to drop the cards on dirty floor... eather it will stain the cards... or make them sticky... and you dont want to DL sticky cards...

Since you guys are on this subject, how do you guys flatten your cards again after it gets bent. I have a slightly noticable bend in one of my cards.

sand king - March 26, 2006 10:16 AM (GMT)
hmm depends how how you got your cards bent... if you spring them and they bend in the middle you can get a card clip to even it out....
if your card are bent till they are creased... no cure for that... just take it out from the deck to when you perform a trick... you dont give a wrong impression to the specs. :)

use mind bender to bend it back ;)

that was a joke...just get joe popper card clip, place your cards in and poof~! your cards are flattened~ :g:

haha.. i can';t even get the cards to bend..how to spring? so i just dribble them, fancy cuts and poof! seasoned deck nice and good! haha

yep use a card clip..no need for joe proper's one though..i use a normal one i got from you-know-where and it works.. to help it, i even put it under dictionaries..haha

or just season them with some salt, sugar, spice..shake them hard, then put it into fridge! ^_^

Any homemade remedies. I find the Joe Poerper Card Guard a little to steep price wise. I used to put it under my speakers but the effect is only temporary. Mine is just a bend. No crease.

Like aaron19923 said, put your deck under some heavy books, like dictionaries or thick encyclopedias :D
Did that to my silver deck which was serverely bent and its now flat!

Ok here is a good way you can try it out take two pic of hard plastic or wood then sandwhich you deck between them and use F clamp to clamp on both sides tightly then after a day or two it should be flat.. :D

Paradoxt - March 26, 2006 02:50 PM (GMT)

lol..nice and creative dude

just keep practising passes with the deck.=) by the time you perfect it the deck would be seasoned

hey i also clamp my cards... it is great it will make your pack of cards very straight , like brand new... but i clamp so hard that my clamp broke... :off: :g:

anyway, you can spring your card and alternate them facing up and down and this should prevent the card from bending...

OR you could buy seasoned deck(second hand) :g: :g:

noob_magicx - March 27, 2006 07:36 AM (GMT)
woa.. this is quite a lot of replies.. thanks guys.. hope to "tame" my deck for my performance.. hahaz.. thanks again!!!

ok here's another tip for you people! Clip your card clip! yep! clip the clip! ^_^

haha i would use that type of big paper clips that's black, metal handles and a strong downward force---not sure of its name. then i would carefully clip my card clip(empty or not, it's the same) so the shiny surface of it won't be scratched(i am using the one from G* hence the shiny colour not the joe proper one.)

if you like, you can clip the middle of the card clip with this clip too when your cards are inside.

But the main thing is that the paper clip helps to extend the life of the card clip which helps to extend the life of your cards! B)

Comics Mart @ Bishan station some Magic box, not OUR magic, but the MAGIC THE GATHERING box. Look for the right size.

MAGIC THE GATHERING card is smaller than our normal Poker card size.

Make sure you find the bigger box. ($4~5)

or Comics Connection, they do have empty box, but the size abit funny, some shop size is okok, some shop is too small. ($1.50 ~ 2.00)

Dunno if they are from the same dealer or sluppier.

10 Springs, ten Faros and a few Waterfall riffle shuffles. Works for me.

You want to get a new deck soft and straight? I have the most effective way : sunlight. Put your cards ( including the case) under direct ( and strong) sunlight for 6 hours or thereabout and POOF! They're perfect for your performance needs.

btw this was mentioned at the general magic forums so you can check it out for more information :)

the last time i accidentally left my cards in the sunlight they totally dieded. permanent bend in the middle. is that normal, since apparently you say sunlight seasons it?
