Title: Eating Razor Blades??
Xtreme - April 2, 2006 01:05 PM (GMT)
Hi guys!! It's been awhile since i last visited this forum. Been so busy lately. I see lotsa changes though.. woo hoo..
There's something i need you guys to help me at. Anyone saw the "eating razor blades" section by Geek Magic? I think Criss Angel perfomed this too if i am not wrong.. I was just wondering where to purchase those razor blades? It's said in Geek Magic to get double-edged ones. I tried a couple of hardware stores but they don't sell it. Anyone knows where to purchase these blades? I need them urgently. :( PLEASE enlighten me!!

Eating razor blades are really dangerous, you should know. And also you will need to specially treat (can't say how. It's exposure.) the razors or you will get a laxative effect if you just buy some and eat. I would suggest glass bulbs as better options because they are more readily available. Added to the fact that eating razors will get you the SAME reactions as eating glass bulbs.
Just a suggestion. Since you can't really find those blades you were talking about.

Its at Bras Basah, 3rd level (I think). Take the escalator up and you'll see it.

Is it just me?
But I never did find eating razor blades or glass to be magical? Not to mention the potential health hazards it will cause.
Unless you are refering to the effect where u thread the razors after having swallowed them, then its a different effect altogther. (Sorry, cant remember the name of this effect)
Cheers!
zib - April 3, 2006 10:08 AM (GMT)
it seems to be more of a stunt rather than magic. but still, its all about entertainment when you view it this way... anyway i think swallowing something bigger than your stomach is more magical. like a long balloon or something.
just my thoughts... and.. (i would never swallow a razor blade...) :g:
Xtreme - April 3, 2006 11:45 AM (GMT)
Andy and zib, you don't actually "swallow" the blades. there's a method for that guys =) And yes. I am actually referring to the razor blades being thread out after being swallowed.
Thanks Magicdow. Will check that out. Anyone else knows where to get razor bladess? :(
llamalamer - April 3, 2006 01:45 PM (GMT)
Oh you are doing the one which does not involve real swallowing? I see..
Because I do have methods of really chewing and swallowing razors and glass. If you are looking for the metal razors that breaks when bent, try asing your favorite saloon.. I think they have.

Yes it is not really magic to you but I do it occasionally to scare the heck out of hecklers (pun intended). Other stunts like push a nail up the nose (as seen in one of Derren Brown's TV show), drink acid, eat fire, are considered as "yoga magic" or "body magic". The ancient method street performers use to draw in a crowd.
If you are interested in the real methods of such body magic, or stunts (whatever you want to call it), a great read would be Swami and Mantra by Sam Dalal. Available from your favorite SMC dealers.
PS. This book can't be sold to anyone below 21 for any reason.

jonatha - April 7, 2006 05:01 PM (GMT)
haha be sure to get more when you fund it... oh ya have you tried spotlight maybe they have.
HarapanOng - April 8, 2006 01:06 PM (GMT)
:off: talking about stunts, you can apparently swallow a coin (signed) and make it shoot out from your nose when you snort. Looks good.
Anyway, razor blades aren't my type. :) too dangerous.
Ning - April 10, 2006 05:37 PM (GMT)
If you're looking for Dave Powell's
Razer Blade Illusion set, I'm selling it and giving away free stuff... It makes it look darn real, the whole act of swallowing the blades (examinable) but it's safe for the magi.
Feel free to check out my
magic lelong thread!Cheers,
Ningy

Those are very expensive. You can make normal blades safe on your own.
PalmLine - December 12, 2006 12:39 AM (GMT)
Here's an interesting story.. i think. I've recently chit-chatted to some old timer who used to perform in pubs and eatin razor blades was part of his act. Then, his audience includes gangsters and loan sharks. So they would grab him and buy their own blades and put it in his mouth by themselves.... and he would of course swallow them.
If you're gonna do this bit of illusion and wanna sell it as the real thing... just take note where you're performing 'aight!
