The Meaning Of Magic

What was the first magic trick you ever saw?

Maybe you saw David Copperfield float across the Grand Canyon. Or maybe you saw you classmate perform the famous Cups and Balls for you. Or maybe it was just your grandpa whipping out a pack of cards and astonishing you with his little tricks.

No matter how old you were when you saw your first trick, the only thing in your mind must have been "WOW!" Your brain tries to find a reasonable explanation for what just happened. For that moment, when you stare out disbelief, you mind arrives to once conclusion - it must have been magic!

Why do magicians do what they do? Why do they spend countless hours of their time praticing? Why are they magicians for that matter? In fact what is magic to magicians, to us?

On hearing the word "magic", most people think of many things - a wizard with pointy hat and his handy wand or maybe even Moses parting the Red Sea! Regardless of what people think, this is a mordern world now where science is the foundation of it, and they realise that it is all in their mind, their imagination.

However, Magicians (Us =>) spending countless perfecting what they do just for those few minutes or even seconds for one thing - to create that moment of thought in their mind, to create a feeling which is indescrible. The feeling which we get when we read a story book of a far of kingdom of magic and wizardy. It makes even a adult seem like a child. For a moment, their mind thinks "Could it be......really magic". We spend hours and hours to create the feeling of joy in people's hearts. It becomes magic in their mind, as as people say, the mind can make things come true.

The quest to become a magician is often not easy with it demanding our time and our care. However, at the end of the day, when we see the child in other people smile again, telling their older selves which thought they knew everything "See! I told you so! I told u magic really existed!", we realise its all worthwhile.

The feeling is almost......magicial!
