Hi people,

Anyone interested? I've gotten a deal for busking at Tanglin Shopping Centre this June holiday on the following dates:

(Thursday, Friday, Saturday)
1 and 2 June 2006 (3pm to 7pm), 3 June 2006 (10am to 6pm)
8 and 9 June 2006 (3pm to 7pm), 10 June 2006 (11am to 6pm)
15 and 16 June 2006 (3pm to 7pm), 17 June 2006 (11am to 6pm)
22 and 23 June 2006 (3pm to 7pm), 24 June 2006 (11am to 6pm)

What to expect:
*You can collect tokens from the public and keep it yourself. (no pay)
*Water will be provided.
*Free and easy (come anytime, plan your own breaks, no committment).
*There's many talents attending including artists.
*You can give out your own contacts for shows and bookings.
*No busking endosement is required.
*Good "training ground" for people who like to learn/start busking.

As I'm contracted to perform fully on the above mention dates, I'll be there for all sessions. Many performers will be performing different talents daily, anyone who attend can observe or learn how to apply different techniques from different performers, those who require help can approach us as well.

In case some of you wonder what I'll be performing, so here's the list:
*Magic (close up/parlour)
*Balloon sculpturing (simple design/display)
*Juggling (hat, spinning plate, knives)
*Contortion (Basic)
*Fire-eating (1-3 sticks)
*Human statue (statue/robot acts)

Currently there are 20+pax contracted performers and artists. (contracted person will get press release/advertising + committment) If you're interested can contact me for more details, for those who intend to busk last minute please call me only when you reach as I'll be performing. I'm not sure if fire twirling can be done, but i don't think there's any problem as long as the safety is there, but definitly not inside the building.

Yes, there are no restrictions, the performance will be outdoor (can also be indoor but don't think there's much crowd inside), music/loudspeakers can be use but have to bring your own (just like any other buskers, everything own supply). Timing will be as what I post.

You can perform anything, their main idea is to promote street arts, that means anything ranging from painting to busking etc...

Just a side note:
*My client is currently trying to get a space to let us leave our things there so we don't have to bring it home and back again, but still cannot promise there will be a space.

*The reason I need anyone who are coming to inform me is so that my client can make sure there's enough water around, so do let me know if you're coming as early as possible, last min attendance will be fine as there'll be extra water around as well, but please don't come last minute in bulk! ^_^

*As some of you have read that there'll be post release, it apply to contracted artists and performers only, my client have submit the write up to the press already, so no more contract will be sign.

*We could use this chance to learn busking, meeting, and also watch our own SMC members perform in front of live audience and exchange ideas or share experience with fellows magicians.

*I'll intro my client to those who're coming, do prepare some name cards to give out as well!

*As this is the 1st year they're doing this, we do not expect too big crowds, do be prepared for some small crowds.

*In case some of you are wondering, yes...I busk there, although I'll have press release but I'm also not paid. :lol:

Anyone has a long magic act that you would like us to "open" for you? Nothing attracts crowds like fire and a little music. B)

...er...provided we can find a small fire extingisher and a fire blanket. :ph43r:

You can get a water gun to ask a volunteer to fill it up, in case of mis-fire, ask them to shoot at you! :P

(But please prepare some REAL fire extingisher!) :lol:

Busking = street performing
Street performing = job
Job = earnings
To be able to earn = must plan a show
To try out show = busking

Fire-eating is bright enough for daytime if you're:

*in a shade or
*it's going to rain.

Fire-eating can be done to small group who are close enough to really see the fire in your mouth, e.g. watching a lighter light up at 5 meter or at finger tip, distance makes a different.

The place is at Tanglin shopping centre, not sure if it's known as Tanglin Mall...as this is the 1st time they're having such a art promotion, we do not expect big crowds.

As for table you can bring your own, just like any other buskers, you'll have to provide your own equipments. I do not suggest going out to perform Blaine style as it give the audience no choice but to pay, instead I'll suggest gathering a crowd to perform.

alan, how's everything at the singapore arts street ? got any highlights going on down there ?

Hey alan. How's it going for this 2 days?I was oversea so I was not able to come. I'm really interested in doing busking as a balloon artis but I went oversea.

I could go and gain some experience of being a busker as I actually do have ambition to be a busker.

I don't think I can come for 8 and 9 of june because of camp. But maybe I can come on 15 and 16 of June?

These 2 days are great, get to know a few artists although the crowd is not much, tomorrow (3rd June) 10am-11am is the offical opening of Singapore Street Festival, do come take a look and join in the fun!

As for the hightlight, every saturday from 11am-12pm (1 hr) there's this guy name Jonathan willl be performing magic, myself (on sat) will be performing variety act, and there's also some balloon sculpturing going on as well.

I've gone there yesterday and today (saturday). I have to say I am quite impressed by Alan's skills. No wonder he calls himself Multi-Talent; you have to see him perform. Overall I enjoyed myself - it was also my first time performing for strangers and I have to say that it was fun to be able to perform to someone else and see their reactions (as opposed to performing over and over to friends and family).

I just wanted to get the attention of the other forum members, as I have yet to meet anyone besides Alan. I will be going again next Friday/Saturday, so I hope to meet more SMC forumites there. ^_^

Sorry for digging out old post, my client and I are very happy to announce that we're now in the mist of preparing for our 2nd Singapore Arts Street. I hope you'll give your support like you did last year.

The dates are:
25 & 26 May 07
1, 2, 8, 9, 15 & 16 Jun 07

Place - Tanglin Shopping Centre

Time - 11am to 6pm except on the opening (26 May) we start at 10am.

Is there a date line to register?

You don't need to register, but it is better that you tell multi talent about it when you going down, so that first, he know who you are, second you know who you can look for help to, third, its just a coutesy gesture. :)

Anyway, good luck to those doing street magic on that day, if I free, I drop by and we can do a little bit of jamming, (IA S*CKS!!)

sheeke, You don't have to register but I do need to give my client the performer list and timing by end of this month. You don't have to be there whole day except the timing you give, also if you're joining us for the whole event my client will do up a artist profile for you (don't have to be there whole day), all you need is to do a short write up about yourself and send in 2 pictures.

I'll say this is a good chance to try performing on the street, I'll be there as well so if you need help I can guide you along, most prob I'll try busking at orchard after the event as well!
