Title: Ring Thru Necklace
Description: Performed by Andy Lau

Heavenstorm - May 2, 2006 10:11 AM (GMT)
Hello,

I saw this trick perform by audy lau in his movie and a tv show. He let the spectator hold the necklace at the top and he use a ring to go from below the necklace and it linked. Can be examined immediately.

Anyone knows the name or where i can get it? Its not ring rapture.

Heres the link to see the effect: (middle of the clip)

Hah...interesting clip....He's actually pretty good! :!!:
All gimmick free effects.
I've always known that he can do some simple sleight of hand but this is a nice surprise. B) Nice..

For the ring on necklace, I know the effect but I'm not sure where you can find it. Probably look for some ring and rope materials.

BTW Heavenstorm, could you give us a little intro in the Hellos and Intros section?

CyberMew - May 2, 2006 10:26 AM (GMT)
How he do the card tricks also? He did two

THat was good...where can i find this effect??

Aloy or anybody?

Aloy - May 2, 2006 10:50 AM (GMT)
I seriously cannot remember where I learnt it from, but you probably can find in many materials, not just 1 book or dvd. Look for any rope material and you probably can find this in there.

Shade - May 2, 2006 10:57 AM (GMT)
You can get it from Magic Supreme. My friends bought a few already. Parkmall basement.

Heavenstorm - May 2, 2006 10:58 AM (GMT)
hmmm,

I had a hard time search for this effect. All the rope and ring tricks i found are not close to this one. Is it confirm no gimmick involve?

Yes I know Aloy; It's the ungimmicked one. I have one. Steven keeps it under his counter and doesn't display it. You have to ask for it.

Aloy - May 2, 2006 11:22 AM (GMT)
I know, try reading in Abbott’s Encyclopedia of Rope Tricks for Magicians.
I THINK it should be in there. :g: Pretty sure it should be actually.

And it's only about USD$15 from murphy's. And you get a ton of other rope effects you never knew exist too. ;)

bigbadwolf - May 2, 2006 11:26 AM (GMT)
what if it's not there? :x  ^_^

Sell it in the Marketplace. :D

With the SMC marketplace, mistakes don't have to be expensive anymore. ;) B)

Heavenstorm - May 2, 2006 11:33 AM (GMT)

He teaches you how to do it. It's about $15 I think; maybe less - I can't remember. But it includes the ring and a chain. You're really paying for the method; the props are totally ungimmicked. This is assuming he still has stock. Just ask him for the ring and chain. He'll show you.

Oh yeah; I've even repeated it using my friend's necklace which he was wearing. It was really awesome - he totally freaked out.

Heavenstorm - May 2, 2006 12:40 PM (GMT)
alright thanks alot man. Do you have the shop's number? I wan to make sure they have the stock b4 making a trip down.

bigbadwolf - May 2, 2006 04:01 PM (GMT)
ya i'm interested too.

PM me the number? (am i allowed to say this?)

thanks..

I know this ring and chain trick. I bought this from a Hongkie guy who
used to have a stall at Albert Mall. Comes with a chain and a huge ring.
Finger ring or big ring the principle is the same. There's a local guy now
selling his stuff, he will set up a stall wherever there's a bazaar going
on.

zinally - May 2, 2006 06:02 PM (GMT)
Yup, it is an interesting trick but easy to do, Just use any chain & ring and try to perform it as Andy Lau.

Maddened - May 3, 2006 12:32 AM (GMT)
Hot damn that trick is nice!
The book looks interesting... *looks at empty wallet*... OK... Never mind the book. Grrr. *mumble grumble* <_<

Heavenstorm - May 3, 2006 11:34 AM (GMT)
hey guys

Chained

scroll down to look for 'CHAINED'
Shade.... is the magic supreme selling the same one as this?

M.A.D. - May 3, 2006 12:17 PM (GMT)
go to china town, there a stall selling this trick i guess $3-$5 only.

Heavenstorm - May 3, 2006 01:39 PM (GMT)
hmmm,

the stall is around where? is it a magic stall?

Doublelifter - May 7, 2006 05:28 PM (GMT)
But has any of you guys try doing the trick with a finger ring and a neck-
lace? I just couldn't nail it. I believe the method is the same as the big
ring and chain that everyone is familiar with but try doing it with a finger
ring and neck-lace, it's different and not as easy. Any hints without
exposing the trick? Thanks.

bigbadwolf - May 7, 2006 11:00 PM (GMT)
hmm...after these days of practising, I've reckon that different size/weight of the ring requires a different amount of handling.

I've tried with a couple of finger ring, even going to a stage where I've bought a steel ring to try this "theory" out, and it only comes with a low percentage of success. Its kind of a knack, but requires a huge amount of practice for an individual to get a feel of it.

cosmosized - May 9, 2006 06:47 PM (GMT)
i think its very likely the size of the ring

iNvIsIbLe - May 9, 2006 11:19 PM (GMT)
Yupz.It is the matter of the ring size.So far, i have tried using small rings but still no success yet. ^_^

Heavenstorm - May 11, 2006 12:17 PM (GMT)
hmmm but in the clip, he uses a small finger ring...

Shade - May 11, 2006 01:32 PM (GMT)
The size helps; but it's really the weight of the ring.

cosmosized - May 13, 2006 08:48 PM (GMT)
i've been experimenting with key rings(way lighter than any rings).... now i was quite sure that it was the size that mattered

now Shade has confirmed my suspicions.. i'll go look for a heavier ring tomorrow
i'm thinking of a ring with rounded edges and not too thick

iNvIsIbLe - May 14, 2006 03:50 AM (GMT)
So far i have tried out using the small ring, but i have few percentage of success.
Sometimes, i would get it and sometimes won't. I also believe it is the matter of size, weight and technique.
:D

Heavenstorm - May 14, 2006 04:49 AM (GMT)
it definitely its not the size...since in the clip he uses a finger ring.... so i guess its the weight...

bigbadwolf - May 14, 2006 06:33 AM (GMT)
ya i agree....its definitely the weight and the technique. If the finger ring is shaped like the one you get from Magic Supreme..it may increase the chance of success too ^_^

llamalamer - May 14, 2006 07:00 AM (GMT)
As for the ring and necklace.

All it takes is lotsa ring drops and practice.

It is a knack after all...

Quite amazing if you ask me. I found the method of this trick in some kids magic book. It uses a small metal hoop and some rope. But I guess ring and necklace gets reactions better, eh?
