hello,

anyone plan to buy this? I not sure if it involve any gimmick coz it looks almost impossible without a force.

3rd Degree Burn

all i can say is that this trick is probably very good if u'r looking for something easy to do, no brainer kind of work, but yet has a strong impact. if u noe invisible deck and pyro perception, u shud noe wat kind of effect this kind of straight forward effect would mean to the audience. cheers!

Hi Guys( and Gals if any)

I'm a third degree burn user too so just let me elaborate more. Yes there is a gimmick. But no force is required.

Effect: Performer ask spectator to name out ANY card. After that, the spec is asked to visualise the card in the flame. Perf pinches the flame a few times and with an 'ouch', shows his finger to have a blister with the card.

Impact on spectator: Well there is a free choice of cards. However, just like the invisible deck, spectator has to name the card.( 8/10 )

Gimmick: (9/10)

DVD and Instuction manual: DVD is for those who don't like reading that much. Enough said. Jason Palter has TONS on puns in both DVD and manual.
(6/10)

Packaging that comes along with it: I did not pay $90 for a ziploc bag. Where is the fancy packaging? (5/10)

Overall : 28/40

If you are diehard on weird/ impossible effects then you SHOULD get this. It can also double up as Pyro Perception.

Post edited for exposure. Please be more discreet.

Nice review there, but then i personally feel that your "Gimmick" section is kinda exposing the effect. :(

Any photos of how the burns look like? They didn't show the results on the sites that sell it.. Wonder if it looks realistic.. And how does it look like? Shapes and numbers?
And also how re-useable issit? Is there like a 10 time performance limit or it lasts forever.. Or needs refilling?

I haven't bought the 3rd degree burn, but if it's similiar to pyro perception, then I think it will last really long. (with the proper care)

And the blister is very realistic. You can actually fake the pain and get people concerned for you. :P

Not all the time, of course.

I would like the followings:

- Is it hard to do?
- Is there any memory work involved? (like in locating the card that the audience has thought of)
- How fast can it be done? In comparism with Pyro Preception.
- Can it last a lifetime like Pyro Preception? Or is it mechanical or electronical, and spoils easily?

Thanks!

Hi guys,
Sorry about the bit of exposure on gimmick. I got a bit lost writing my review.

dtjk: 3rd Degree Burn is not hard to do at all. You need the skill in misderection though, which is covered by the instruction manual quite clearly, word by word. It's non electronic. However, it does take a fair bit of memorisation like the invisible deck. It's quite ingenious actually. Might last you a lifetime. If you're sharp, you should have it down by 15 minutes. Practice, of course is essential. Even more so in this case. You can do it over and over again( If your skin can tahan la). You just need a lighter( Yes there are lighter-less tricks too) and you are good to go.

It's quite expensive, although I have to agree the effect looks impressive. Especially with no force ^_^

Might consider getting, now that you mentioned it.

It's pretty easy to do, looks really real, and it is in the shape you want (dismond, hearts, etc) The gimmicks will last a lifetime, easy to put away and carry about and the reaction is great. I'll give it a 8 out of 10 for the reactions it get. The reactions are worth it Get it!

As for me.. I misplace the gimmick. *sob sob.
