I have noticed an increased trend in Regular Forumites posting on the behalf of those who hasn't been posting much in the forums.
While we are very comfortable with the idea of someone who has reached Regular Forumite status to help their friends post items for sale or purchase, we would like to appeal to all Regular Forumites to do it with discernment.
It should be someone you are familiar with and not someone who just PMed you randomly to do him a favour.
This is a self help community. The concept here is we want to benefit those who contributes to the forum. And not encourage people who doesn't contribute to the discussion, but just wants to unload their unwanted goods.
For those who has received help in getting your sale items posted, please don't abuse the courtesy extended to you.
Don't, for example, latch onto the thread that your friend has started for you and keep following up posts whenever you have new items for sale.
Or become a leech by keep asking others to post for you all the time.
Come on, if you are too selfish/lazy to take part in the discussions or help someone out, then don't you agree that certain privileges of the forum should be withheld from you?
Make a few post to get to Regular Forumite yourself too. Who knows, you might make a few friends in the meantime, and you might actually enjoy the discussions as well. B)
I am trying hard not to do the PAP thing and make everything into rules and laws in order to contain problems.
So i'm not going to say how often is too often, or how many times is too much, or what can do what what cannot do. I'm leaving that to your personal discernment and judgement.
After all, being able to help others post in Marketplace is part of your privileges. ;)
So please show that we can be "automatic" about things and we don't have to ban this and ban that in order to keep things running smoothly around here. B)
Thanks for your cooperation everyone... :)
Dear All...
I've been thinking about this for a couple of days, to be fair to the others, from now on if anyone ("middleman") wants to help someone with an insufficient post count ("seller") put items up for sale, it will only be permitted if the middleman takes over all responsibility for all the following administrative duties such as keeping track of what items are left, responding to questions and such.
This means PMs and all replies to queries are the responsibility of the middleman and NOT the seller. Also the middleman is responsible for making sure the seller conforms to all other rules. So as such selling on behalf of someone isn't banned, just that the middleman (not the seller) has to take over the sale of items. As for delivery (meet ups and postage) it does not matter who does them.
Please understand this is to be fair to the other users who've worked hard for their post count, and also to plug the loophole in regulations.
