Title: My Vision For Magic
Description: How to make Magic a bigger thing

Thanks for all you guys' valuable advice once again!

Anyway, just want to share with you some of my humble opinions here..

Despite what many people think of Ellusionist, I must say I really admired Brad Christian's business acumen. His website is wonderfully designed and his marketing is so powerful, especially the preview clips (every time I went in, I feel like buying something).

I feel that the magicians in Singapore should actually look into making a business out of our art like Brad Christian, beside just doing performances at events.

Eg:
1. Producing our very own instructional videos that cater to local or even malaysian market. The costs will be significantly lower, and intead of letting our funds flow to those Ang Mohs, we can use those money earned to promote the art.

2. Producing our very own Street Magic TV specials, letting Singaporeans know that we have home-grown talents which are as good or maybe even better than David Blaine. It will be good for people who are professionals to boost their image and publicity. And we can educate our locals to learn to appreciate the art more, elevating the status of magicians.

3. We can also start a Magic Academy. Using magic, we can actually get kids out of the streets, letting them to learn an art which can help boost their self-esteem and confidence. It will benefit the society.

Ok, admittedly, my proposal is not the easiest thing to pull off, but with vision and determination, I am sure it is very possible.

Wouldn't you need to ask permission with the creators of the effect? Perhaps you would also need to pay royalty and what not to the creator?

How about one where you follow a group of magicians around who visit places of residence to perform and call it "condo magic" ^_^ :P

Seriously though, I think it is a good idea and I would definitely watch it on TV. Maybe some of the more experienced members of SMC can demo for Channel 5 or something and get a show?

Good idea, but I think it would be very difficult to implement. Perhaps starting off with free workshops at orphanages or someplace? BTW, I didn't know there were many kids on the streets (sorry, come from Indonesia so don't know Singapore that well).

It wold be better if we do it mondo magic style. Where it keeps switching between magicians doing street magic.

i think this is a great idea, its whether we are ambitious enough to pull this off. FYI, there is a local magician who has made a big internationally and he has been featured on local TVs too. check out JeremyPei

if this think will ever happen, count me in. ;)

Its great. We can form our own band of magicians and best feature on tv, even produce own video..

Agree with point 2 ;)
Sure will be cool!

I think, unless one is a professional magician (ie. with good skills) and can actually hold up to the standard, then, this can be done. Also, although Singapore magicians are up and coming, this is being a Asian country its probably a lot harder to pull off a serial on magic.

** By the way, this one small ( or big depending on how you see it ) step has been taken. JC Sum has produced a 'magic serial' though it is not on its own but is part of another show (Top Fun Channel 8). It is still showing on Monday every week. I believe this is the first in Singapore.

A. :)
