Ya i have it in video. Quite a cool trick. There a few variations to do it. he did it in another way. Video is about 30-45mins long. Quite a nice effect

Magicdow - May 23, 2006 12:01 AM (GMT)
You can find it in Michael Ammar's Easy to Master Money Miracles.

Yup. The five and ten dollars transpo by JC Sum is very nice and visual. If i am not wrong, the effect is similar with the 5 and 1 Transpo(Jay Noblezada).

Extremer, when u say u have it in video, do u mean the trick
or the Top Fun show. If it's the trick, can u advise on which
video or DVD and by which magician. Anyway the street magic
segment on Mon's Top Fun is only about 5 to 10mins.

Thanks Magicdow, will check-out Michael Ammar's DVD.
Invisible, if it's similiar to Jay Noblezada, I know the trick,
but I guessed JC Sum do it differently.

doublelifter, as mention magicdow it call Michael Ammar's Easy to Master Money Miracles. I watch it on video tape form. JC did it in a special way. but the concept is the same. He use a bit of the shape-shifter way.

Vol 3.

Here's what I found out. JC Sum credit his $5 & $10 dollar transpo
to U.F. Grant's "Slow Motion Bill Transposition" found in The Tarbell
Course in Magic Vol. 3.
Magicdow, I thought this effect is found in Michael Ammar's "Easy
To Master Money Miracles" Vol 2 under the name "BeSwitched."
Correct me if I'm wrong and what's the name of the effect in
Vol 3, are they the same? Thanks.

Hi,

From what I understand, the similar version of the transpo is in Vol 2 - Beswitched (credited to George Hample)

Vol 3 under the name of $5 and $1, whom the video credits to Tom Ogden is another variant of Grant's Slow-Motion Bill Transpostion as with other popular ones including: Eugene's Last Dollar (Eugene Burger), , Metamorphosis Bills (Bob Solaris), Atomic Bills (John T-Sheets), Klause's Ultimate Transposition (Roger Klause). David Parr's version in his book "Brain Food" is alos highly regarded.

The difference between all is whether the bills can be borrowed or handed out after the effect. You really have to work through all of them to determine what works well for you.

Another big difference is the size of the bills when they are folded for the effect. Many of the above need the bills to be folded into 1/8s. (This is the case for the Grant original effect)

For the one I do, as well as Beswitched, the bills are folded in 1/4s. I personally prefer this as it makes the effect more visual and eliminates dead time taken when the bills are folded.

From what I understand, the exact credit for the effect is unclear, while the Ammar video credits Hample, it is highly possible that this was developed independently by many magicians across the world.

I was shown the effect around 1994 by a local magician who learnt it from a Japanese magician in the 80s.

However, the visual change was shown to me by Sherman Tang, which I feel adds to the effect greatly. But, what sells the effect is the handling and psychology of handling the bills and the spectator. What I have seen presented by many magicians is that they are too guarded when handling the bills and placing them into the spectator's hand. Boldness and confidence is the key to transform the effect from trick to 'miracle'.

If I ever meet you, I'll show you my handling.
