Title: Pdf Question?

jopiruizen - May 25, 2006 05:31 AM (GMT)
Hello,

I just want to know if members are allowed to give a free ebook to everyone here in smc, eg( Dai Vernon Complete or TrickShop Hypnotism)..

Since I bought those goods, I don't think it is a piracy when I'll give it to everyone for free..

THanks..

No, you may not.

Think of it this way. What if you're the owner of the book (as in you wrote the book), someone bought it and decides to give away for free. You'll lose income on those books that were given away for free.

I have a number of David Blaine ebooks that sell for a few dollars each on ebay. I have the resale rights as it is given by the seller to those who buy the product from him. Does that mean I can just give it away to magicians too?

Would that be considered exposure if I post it on this forum? If I have the resale rights?

The problem is, does the original seller have the "rights" to sell this book? If so, how did he obtain this "right"?

I'd wonder why would someone sell an e-book together with a resale rights. Unless the e-book with resale rights is sold at a high price, wouldn't it hurt sales?

he is a powerseller on ebay that sells ebooks. He gives resale rights so that he attracts many customers who think they can make money by reselling them.

I doubt the person who you bought the ebook from has the right to sell it in the 1st place, much less to give the "resale" rights.

I mean, if I write an ebook of all original material, and I choose to sell it as ebooks with resale rights, then maybe it's fine.

If I see someone do an effect, backward engineer it, and then write an ebook, I don't think I even have to rights to sell it in the 1st place. Because the effect is not even mine.

I've since learnt the hard way that these "David Blaine" stuff that are selling on Ebay for $1 or $2 are just collections of free material easily found online. They just get everything together, make it into an exe, and sell it.

I guess you can say you're paying for convenience if you're too lazy to seek out the information yourself, but for me, something just doesn't free right when they don't tell you outright what the product really is.

Well, in any case, its all about the introduction of new technology everyday. So its too subjective to know what is right and what is wrong. I think what SMC can do now is, being at the most extreme ends for such things, because we might end up having more conflicts about rights for effects than learning new things everyday.

But we cannot stop other people from doing that also. I mean, hmm, at least i think its rightful to keep shut off from pdf resale in this forum to prevent trouble.
