Judging from the responses of the previous thread, I think it's time to move away from the negatives and start to look more into the positives.
Ok, maybe for a change, we can give our opinions on who are our favourite magicians and why... from a magician's point of view. See if we can find things that will help us grow in the Royal Road of magic.
Mine:
1. Daniel Garcia: Saw his Project DVDs, most of his tricks are very practical, powerful (I especially loved Only 4, his version of Shadow Coins) though handling is rather advanced. Plus, he got a pretty laid-back, relaxed kind of performing style which I liked. In my opinion, I think magicians should be fun, entertaining rather than scary (think: Criss Angel). In addition, he comes up with his own routines, what more can you ask for? Maybe his looks.. hehe... just joking.
2. Gregory Wilson: Again, it's his style. RElaxed, humourous, cool... I think people like him is able to put spectators at ease, thus making misdirection easier. Also, he never makes people feel stupid being "fooled", a very important aspect, especially performing to male audiences. By the way, for anybody who had watched his vidoes before, I think his techniques should be beyond questions (I think he was a FISM champion too, right?)
3. Oz Pearlman: Yes, his style is the difference again. Maybe he speak a bit too fast sometimes but I think he's more engaging compared to be who speak slo..w....ly. Of course, his card thandling is fantastic too, I still rate his Born To Perform as the best card Dvd I had so far (at least for a beginner).
Ok, above are just my personal opinion. As most of you can see, I have a preference for magicians with a relaxed and funny kind of style as it suited my personality. I am definitely not saying this is the BEST way or ONLY way. So feel free to give your comments.
By the way, I am still quite new in magic so I may not know some of those more "lau jiao" (older) magicians.

I believe the effect is called Shade, or Sh4de as written on his DVD. The handling is rather okay as even the DVD itself rates the moves' difficulty 6/10.
By the way I believe a thread on 'favourite magician' is in existence already. :)
Hmm.. I just checked it, it's really called Only 4 on Project 2.
Oh ok, then so sorry for coming out with this one.
My mistake, yup there is one called only 4. I misunderstood and thought you were refering to his other coin matrix :P Sorry about that dude.
Duh.. David Copperfield.
His theatrics, acting, magi skills, timing of the execution of sleights. His charm, personality, ability to draw emotions. That's where the magic lies. That's Copperfield.
