bigbadwolf - June 6, 2006 02:45 AM (GMT)
As in topic, anybody bought it already?

Its on his website Here

A borrowed ring thru a borrowed keychain. How cool is that?

CyberMew - June 6, 2006 04:15 AM (GMT)
Wow.. This, with Canz and Passing Thru seems really nice..

bryanne - June 6, 2006 04:18 AM (GMT)
I have also been waiting for a review on this. One thing is bugging me, most of Kevin Parker's stuff are illusions, so for this it is stated that its a illusion. I dont think the ring can be left onto the keychain for the spectators to inspect. lol: Its too cool for a illusion. B)

Ning - June 6, 2006 04:52 AM (GMT)
Well it advertises itself as impromptu & it also says on the webbie:

The instructional video will teach you everything you need to know to perform this illusion. No trick props neccessary, this illusion is completely impromptu. Can be done anywhere, anytime, with a borrowed set of keys and a borrowed ring.

His coke can production looks so cool!!!

I think like what bryanne mentiond is true. I don't think the effect can be inspected buts its indeed a very convincing illusion.

When I watch Canz i was like :!!: indeed a very amazing way to reproduce several Coke cans. I read on the magic cafe forum that someone was able to reproduce up to 6 cans. My god, i really wonder how it works. Its definitely very angle sensitive.

Just to let you guys know, his DVD is now out! So currently, NEXUS and CANZ are available ^_^

View the videos on the links... Very cool stuff indeed!!!

His coin through (anything) effects looks damn cool la. Any idea where i can get those?

bigbadwolf - June 26, 2006 02:41 PM (GMT)
isn't it just a coin thru table?

jeromefang - June 27, 2006 02:31 PM (GMT)
Hi Droicut,

Do you mean Descent or Passing Thru? Kevin Parker's website only has these 2 coin effects. For Passing Thru, you can get it at Murphy's. You can PM Ning if you're interested. Click here to see the product page: Passing Thru DVD

For Descent, I don't think the DVD is out yet but you still can get the Downloaded version from his website.

Nexus
This can be done totally impromptou. From a borrowed keychain and a borrowed ring. No gimmicks required. But there is a certain angle problem when you are doing this. And you will need practise before attempting this. And yes, it cannot be inspected. But it is a very convinving illusion with a proper presentation.

I just got the dvd yesterday, allow me to give a quick rundown.

Quality 3/10
Do not expect the video to be dvd quality. Its not your usual production film you get from Ellusionist or L&L. It's basically a home video. Poor lightning just made it worst. But it's still viewable.

And the dvd menu, my little brother can do it better.

Price 3/10
I paid S$40 for this dvd and all I got is only 14 minutes of poor quality footage. It's cheaper for the instant download but its a hassle to back it up. (I believe the quality is the same also)

As for the "value-for-money" category here...consumers please judge it yourself.

Method 9/10
This is where Nexus scores. Firstly, there's no false advertising. What you see is what you get. No gimmick, totally impromptu. You borrow a keychain and a ring and therefore you melt them together. It happens so fast, the spectators has no time to react. ( I quote the last line from Kevin Parker )

The method is easy enough for a beginner, with a nice touch of misdirection. Once you have a grip on the method, you can even link keychain to keychain.

I gave it a 9 because it is not examinable and there is also a slight angle problem. Perform well and the angle thing will not be a problem. (Think snap change)

Overall 7/10
This is my first Kevin Parker dvd so I'm not too sure how is this compared to his previous 2 effects (Canz and Passing Thru).

There are people saying that Nexus is not as good as the former effects but I have no problem with it. I like the method because its easy and visual. The dvd lost it points in the quality and price section. Too expensive for a dvd of this quality!

Still, I will recommend you guys to pick this one up just for the method (or just download it). Don't skip it, it's too easy.

Above are my 2 cents worth on Nexus.

Cheers ^_^

All his DVDs are out on Murphy's, btw. Canz looks so cool, and so do his other effects.

LOL... nexus apparently works on magicians too  All i have to say, if you do it right- it's a very nice illusion! Just be sure to practise it well before you perform, like other things magic ^_^
