Title: Looking For An Impressive N Shocking Card Trick

blacktiger - June 9, 2006 02:34 PM (GMT)
Is there ani very impressive and shocking card trick that will make ur audience go crazy?

Darry - June 9, 2006 02:37 PM (GMT)
Most tricks do..It depends on your showmanship. And audience. Without their heckling and with your perfect execution of a trick with a nice patter your audience will definitely get stunned.

<Aaron> - June 9, 2006 02:46 PM (GMT)
hmm. SHOCKING? try the electric touch dude. ^_^

most tricks are good. just play around with them. don't do those tricks with boring patter. as what Jim said today, it's 30% skill and 70% presentation. ^_^

About 3 years ago (before I started learning about magic tricks), my friend showed me the Inv*****e D**k. I found it quite shocking. Thats the card trick that comes to my mind when I think of something shocking.

He also showed me another trick, but I still don't know how its done. Can't quite remember, but it involved me thinking of a card, him putting a coin in a piece of paper, then placing it on top of a deck. He lit the coin and it burnt through half the deck, to the card that I was thinking of. Anyone know the name of that trick?

It's call In A Flash by Jay Sankey.

I like some of Sankey stuff actually. One of those which i felt "shocking" is the Bigger Finish.

voodoolong - June 9, 2006 06:09 PM (GMT)
LOL!!! In A Flash is a good trick but thinking of buying f**** p**** it makes you burn your own pocket lol!!!

vennomz - June 10, 2006 02:13 AM (GMT)
smoke by derren brown a freely thought of card is named and vanishes from the deck only to appear in the cigar you were smoking, causing you to choke.isnt that shocking?

<Aaron> - June 10, 2006 04:05 AM (GMT)
haha no. that's not shocking, that's bad for health. ^_^

haha just keep the lighter away from the f**** p**** !!
But, in a flash is quite nice to do to girls. they scream!!! :D
Bigger finish is not bad.you get to hold the girl's hand!!!! B)

LarryDK - June 10, 2006 06:28 AM (GMT)
Whether or not he is going around here.

Let say, even a classic force can be an shocking trick, that one u can ask huron.

So let the rest of the magicians have mentioned, its the presentation loh. Nothing else.

theWeaver - June 10, 2006 07:49 AM (GMT)
I think premonition done with strong enough presentation is a shocker beyond words.. It's like punching them in the face.. *poof

Try properly.

Jeremy - June 11, 2006 06:30 AM (GMT)
Try Zamelia's Rose by Derren Brown.

thats if you're good enough.

muscleaxl - June 12, 2006 02:15 AM (GMT)
Shocking? Hmm... as in freaked out?

Well, in my opinion, even a 2 Card Monte can freaked people out (I did once), if done at the right place with the right words. Also, depends on the kind of audience you are performing to (gals are generally more prone to "shocks" and they showed it)

But anyway, you can try the Motion (impromptu Haunted Deck) by Daniel Garcia or Stigmata. Usually, mentalism effects have a more shocking effect rather than cards (eg. colour changes or transpo effects).

But there was once a guy from a local shop who did this trick called Cocoon, where the 4 Jacks turned into 4 Aces right before my eyes and it was fully examinable at the end. It was a very "shocking" trick to me back then too.

blacktiger - June 12, 2006 11:04 AM (GMT)
Motion by daniel garcia? Where can it be found?

Incarneto - June 12, 2006 01:52 PM (GMT)
It's in one of daniel garcia's 3 volumes.. volume 2 or 3... can't remember well.. check it out on ellusionist's website

muscleaxl - June 14, 2006 09:26 AM (GMT)
Motion is in Project 2.

But as usual, you need the "proper" surface and angle sensitive.

joeltay81 - August 29, 2006 06:34 AM (GMT)
In my opinion, Triumph form the Ninja 2 DVD is awesome. It blows their mind and almost impossible to detect with just a little practise. Completely impromptu and can be done on any borrowed deck. Comes with an excellent storyline too. For those that are not familiar with the effect, this is how it appears to the spectator.

1) Spectator take any card (not forced), look at it, remembers, and hands it to you face down.

2) Magician put card into deck and lose it.

3) Magician takes half the deck and put it face up, the other face down.

4) Magician shuffle both cards together so that some cards appear to be face up and others are mixed face down.

5) decks are randomly cut to show that some cards are faced up and others down. There are even back to back cards.

6) Magician turns deck to expose bottom card and it is the wrong card. The deck is replaced in its original position.

7) Magician slowly waves hand over (I like to produce some smoke effect here) cards and just fan them out of the table.

8) All the "mixed-directioned-cards" are now face down except for one card, the card you chose.

9) Spectator stares in silent for a few seconds and say "how?"

Remember! Easy, Impromptu effect using any borrowed deck! This is a killer.

I've done Triumph on a few of my friends and it is easily one of my favourites to perform because it is like the Biddle trick, easy to pull off as a magician and very hard hitting towards your spectators. So yes, Triumph gets my vote as well.

Freeze - August 29, 2006 12:20 PM (GMT)
Card tricks. Just saw one on Youtube. Red Hot Mama. Looks nice. But is the 'red hot mama' the name of the trick though?

Biddle's what i recommend. A classic trick of all times in my opinion. But nevertheless, any tricks with good presentation styles always awe people.

ALWAYS.

Paradoxt - August 29, 2006 01:39 PM (GMT)
I believe it's really called "Red Hot Mamacita". Or at least that's what the penguin version is called. Looks cool. I also wanna learn!!

Freeze - August 29, 2006 04:14 PM (GMT)
Oh so there is really a trick on that? Lol. I know a trick that achieves similar effect only that it requires a gimmick. I'm going to go check out the penguin right now.

csjoshi - October 16, 2006 02:25 PM (GMT)
hey guys.

Try Biddle Trick from Inside Magic or Out of Sight out of Mind. I would also recomment a few effects from Sankey's 22 Blows to the head. Locked Room Mystery is awesome there is this other trick where u make a prediction from a list of words that one is great too esp you you do a prediction thru SMS.

Very Shocking...very impressive.

Lamadude - October 18, 2006 12:00 PM (GMT)
Do out of sight, out of mind mention by csjoshi. i was really freaked out when it was performed on me and now when i performed, it still amazed the people i perform for.

noob_magicx - October 26, 2006 11:05 AM (GMT)
erm.. i would say 2 cardmonte or biddle, both easy to do and kind of impromtu.. but a colour change routine would be awesome too.. even though i have not try it yet.. :D

kennection - October 26, 2006 04:00 PM (GMT)
I would reccomend Jim Pace's The Web!

Lamadude - October 28, 2006 03:35 PM (GMT)
I was just reading through the post again and i realised something. By right, no matter what trick we performed, if the presentation is good, it will be an impressive and shocking card trick!

So just go out there and amaze people! remember, PRESENTATION!
