tai - November 12, 2004 03:52 PM (GMT)
i jus found a shop that sell bicycle deck in bridge size. Its smaller in size then rider deck. Guess it will be good for people with small hand and it look good when fanning. Anyone using this deck?

All Popular bookshops are selling them.

Bicycle deck in bridge size is surprisingly common here in SG, which i think is a good thing, the deck wouldn't look so unfamiliar to the specs.
Do they have gimmick cards at bridge size? If they do i might switch to that size altogether.

i highly dont think so you should ever pratice using bridge size cards even u have small hands just learn like anyone else with poker size cards because if u are so used to using bridge size u gonna get screwed if someone hands you his or her deck.. :P

That sentence sound so familiar to me when i was using Bridge size as the deck i perform or practice, but now i am into Normal Poker Size :X Haha ~

i didnt actually start of with bridge size but when i started out i pratice with plastic cards and its freaking soft lol.. then i went to poker size and i start all over again lol cant do a single dl nor pass ... so my advice, just use poker size!! :P

A magician told me it's not wise to use Bridge Size, but for magicians who have exceptionally small hands like i saw a Primary 6 Magician lol. It wouldn't be wise using a bridge size as like what ren has said, what if someone pass you a regular deck, then you would have some problems.
If i remember this wise man who told me was Solomon, Haha

haha yeah.... i also recommend to try to get use to poker size cards. i mean its the way to go i guess. The professionalism and everything is there. i have v smal hands. i used to practice with bridge size cards but later switched to poker size. it harder to do some sliehgts and flourishes but its great coz magic seem more impossible to understand for the laymen. moreover, if u have small hands yet still able to handle the cards well, then u get more respect from not only laymen but also magicians. So... my advice is stick with poker size... even though i often complain abt my hands being small. its not easy doing the tripple cut or some fancy one hand cuts with small hands... but i guess with practice, anyting is possible. By the way, how much is the bridge size bikes?

Are the bridge sized bicycle cards just the smaller version of the poker sized ones with the air-cushion finish? Cos I remember the last bridge sized bicycle deck I saw wasn't.
Anyone here actually play bridge btw?
Mystical2004 - November 15, 2004 11:45 PM (GMT)
ah... bridge is difficult, complicated, mind-boggling, but very fun... but i dont play wf bridge sized cards... poker sized is fine
tai - November 16, 2004 12:34 AM (GMT)
Its exactly the same as poker size bicycle with air cushion finish except smaller by a bit... i jus got bought 1 to collect.
and ya there is another thing that is different, there is a rank of hands card instead of a joker in the pack. It tell u all the odds of getting certain card in the game of poker..did u noe the odds of getting a royal flush is 1 in 650,000. :)

Hmm...which brings up an interesting question: Why are there smaller sized cards for bridge?
ren8585 - November 16, 2004 07:37 AM (GMT)
its for people with small hands.. easier for manipulation and slieghts but i highly dont recommend using it
TheMaestro - November 16, 2004 08:01 AM (GMT)
Ok, but what I meant was how come bridge uses smaller sized cards? :)
tai - November 16, 2004 09:36 AM (GMT)
My guess is more ladies play bridge tats y they make a smaller version for them ;p

Bridge cards are only for girlies and wussies. Agree with Kev on the fags part man... come on! We're GUYS!
TheMaestro - November 17, 2004 07:38 AM (GMT)
Also, bridge cards are not that much smaller anyway. They have a smaller width, but are still the same length.

Burr, Maestro... Bridge size cards are a WEEEEEEEEEEEEE bit taller then poker sized cards. Not that you'll spot much of a diff, but if you stick a bridge-sized in a poker deck, it'll feel like a longitudinal stripper deck... if that makes any sense :D

They are? I don't think they're meant to be that way though. I checked out the USPC custom order form at:
and found they're supposed to be the same length - 3.5"
Btw Kevin we've met before, at Concept Magic, remember?

Yeah and you picked the wrong day to come!

When I really got into card sleights, Bridge-sized Bikes were my first choice. Fortunately I couldn't find them at that time so I was saved from the "Bridge Dependancy."
I have short fingers. But I soon realised that even with smaller hand dimensions, you could perform sufficient sleights to do a killer routine. Perhaps Bridge-sized cards should only be used under circumstances where the size of the hand REALLY matters, like doing a standard palm.
Other than that, Poker-sized cards all the way.
