Hi to all Christian Magicians, or magicians who do or know gospel magic,

i'd like to know what are some good gospel magic tricks to do generally for kids? how to explain and link the tricks with the gospels? any good resource dvds, or tricks to purchase?

i remember i attended a service when i was a kid, n the person preaching actually did a few magic tricks with things such as a magic coloring book(Wordless book/ bible sotry), a bowl with rice when then over flowed with rice(to show God's providence, Jehovah Jireh), bible with flames coming out(explain Hell) etc etc.

would like to hear abt some of ur experiences and where i'd be able to get these tricks/gimmicks if you do know abt them. THanks.

Ello... you may like to check out Duane Laflin's material. He's generally a silk guy but he's a noted gospel magician. Very much so, as reflected during the past Internation Festival of Magic. Just ask those who went :) He came up with this video called Gospel Magic for the Young at Heart even...

All the things you mentioned can be found @ murphysmagic.com ...in fact, just type 'bible' in the search box, most of the stuff you'e looking for will spring up :lol:

I think most magic props can be used for gospel magic,it's all about utilising them in context. Just like how Lawrence Khong (apostle pastor from FCBC)does it for his shows like The Magic of Love & The Spook Show :lol: I'm sure you must have caught at least one of them?

A long time ago, i actually "created" a gospel magic effect.
"Created" with the quotation marks because it's actually a very simple combination of a few basic sleights and a rather old revelation, so it's not exactly the most original idea there is. But it's easy enough for almost anyone with basic cards sleight knowledge to do it.
The basic idea was to work the patter to tell a story about the Cruxification and the Resurrection.

I own Duane Laflin's The Art Of Gospel Magic DVD Vol 1-3 & indeed it's very good. If you are a stage guy (regardless you are a Christian or not), you'll love it.

Hey I have been thinking about Gospel Magic too... especially after watching Pastor Khong's shows. But due to my lack of creativity, hasn't been able to come up with any.

There was only one which I thought was not too good, I used a ACR to tell people how Jesus would rise up after being beaten down time and time again.

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised to see people wanting to do Gospel Magic here. Could finally find people to exchange some ideas.

Yeah. Saw a small "documentary" on him and his family on tv last year i think. Glimpsed abit of his show. He and his daughter realli make a great show.
