Title: Rainbow Of Life: Charity Gig @ Np
Description: Stage performance, anyone? :)
Ning - June 23, 2006 09:24 AM (GMT)
Proceeds for this fund-raising concert held at Ngee Ann Poly will go to the Children's Aid Society. This happens on 10 July, Monday from 5.30 pm onwards... however, rehearsals start from 3pm.
I'll be there doing a stage show... pls holler if you're interested in helping out as well. A performance around 15 mins or so is good enough. Pls let me have your names by Mon, 26 June midnight. I'll need to liaise with the organiser so do note the deadline.
Token of appreciation will be given accordingly :) Call Jenny (the organiser) @ 81006635 if you need further info. Anything else, pls post here!
Thanks guys!
ning ;)
Jeff Gan - June 23, 2006 09:31 AM (GMT)
wow,
You guys are packed to the brim with activities.
I only wish the MMF could do 20% of what you guys do.
You have my utmost respect.
Ning - June 23, 2006 09:39 AM (GMT)
LOL... thanks Jeff :) These things take a lot of time & effort to organise and co-ordinate, it's not easy but it's a cause I believe in.
Oh yes! I forgot to mention that the target audience will be students from NP (tix selling at $5, according to Jenny) and some kids (20 or so of them) from the Children's Aid Society, as well.
Do support this if you can guys ^_^
Cheers,
ning
zib - June 23, 2006 01:41 PM (GMT)
Umm, sorry, I don't perform, but anyway, do you guys by any chance need helpers?
I might be free. I don't know. :(
Ning - June 24, 2006 06:50 PM (GMT)
Thanks Zib :) Are you studying in NP? Will let you know ^_^

Ning - June 25, 2006 05:17 AM (GMT)
No prob Shufi, this is extended to everyone here ^_^ Join me lah!
AhLiShuFi - June 25, 2006 05:30 AM (GMT)
but may i noe wat's the audience capacity? a rough estimate...? cos i need to plan wat i wanna do first.
LarryDK - June 25, 2006 12:55 PM (GMT)
For NP event, normally it will be very big scale, esp charity events. So you can expect that the audience is super alot.
if the stage is the convention centre that NP have, the Stage is limitless, its very big and wide.
Jaspas - June 25, 2006 03:09 PM (GMT)
Don't think too much. Just use 10 stooges. Do an hour long show.
dtjk - June 25, 2006 03:11 PM (GMT)
I'll volunteer for this event.
As a stooge, i mean.
Ning - June 25, 2006 05:09 PM (GMT)
It's not going to be a big crowd, but do prep for a stage act similar to the one for MU '06 lah. There will be a mix of kids but mostly NP students... basically, this charity gig is a project organised by some students from Ngee Ann who are trying to raise some funds for the Children's Aid Society.
Thanks for the stooge volunteers, but is anyone else up for this?
Cheers,
Ningy ^_^
Ning - June 26, 2006 05:55 AM (GMT)

Thanks ^_^

AhLiShuFi - July 10, 2006 04:12 PM (GMT)
Hey guys,
Today is a very interesting experience for me. For those who came to watch, maybe they'll understand why. When it came for my turn to perform, i quickly dashed behind the curtain to get my stage props all set up with the help of ever-friendly and helpful Aloy. While setting up the table and halfway through loading myself, the curtains opened!!! Poor Alot went all screaming asking the crew to close back the curtains....
In my mind, it's all too late, the curtains are fully opened now. What should I do?? I didn't know why but I showed Aloy the thumbs up despite not being ready for my act. Nevertheless i went on with my act... and it kind of turned out to be rather impromptu. I just made do with whatever i have got ready. haha... it was funny when i recall back the incident.
Although things did not went on as practiced and planned, I felt good that I somehow still manage to put things together. haha!
Anyway, Ning did well on stage too with her himber ring effect getting all the sensored reactions from the audience. I wonder if the kids heard all that! Her finale which was a part of her winning competition act amazed everyone including myself. haha!!! well done!
with regards,
Shufi
Aloy - July 10, 2006 09:35 PM (GMT)
This event seriously needed an events organiser.
And there's almost 10 people attending the event. :ph43r:
But the girls were cute and friendly, so I guess that counts too? :g:
Oh, and Shufi is super brave man. When the curtains opened too early, he just smiled and nodded his head and basically did an impromptu routine that was really whatever he can find in his case.
He even invented a new effect where he produced a parasol by kicking. :!!:
The Orientalist - July 11, 2006 05:05 AM (GMT)
Hi Shufi,
What move was that parasol kicking thing? Did you managed to produce all the parasols? I wish I was there to help you.
Anyway, good try. You are really a brave man!
The sudden open of the curtain also happen to me before long time ago.
kennection - July 11, 2006 07:15 AM (GMT)
Well, it was a quite a good event i could say except for the band tt started the whole thing off. man! they were terrible (oops)! The other performances were very good esp the Tamil play, Acapella and of course not forgetting performances by Shufi and Ning. They were jus great! Linking rings are something i wont forget eh? ;)
Ken
Ning - July 11, 2006 08:07 AM (GMT)
Thanks guys! That was the first time I ever performed Himber Rings, ala Pentdragon stage style ;)
It was always one of my dream routines after being inspired by Jonathan Pentdragon at the last IF :) I was honestly quite unsure if it was solid as a stage effect (parlour, yeah but stage...? And with no video feed?) so seeing that the audience wasn't that big, at best, 40 people? I went ahead and was very surprised that i got a much better reaction than I honestly hoped for!!!   *phew*
Shufi was great man... i was backstage prepping for my act when i realised in horror that the guy manning the curtains was oblivious to even Aloy screaming 'Close the curtains! Close the curtains!' while rushing towards him as Shufi was still loading his parasols and all on stage.
He wasn't the only one having curtain problems that evening... the curtain people took almost forever to shut the curtains after my closer... so i damn nearly burned down the table  Those who know/ seen my closing act during MU'06 would know what i mean...
Still, I'm really proud that Shufi was the epitome of what good showmanship is all about. He forged bravely ahead despite the mess up and yeah, the brolly production from pants was really... :!!:
Aheheheheheh... what a BIG brolly you have up your pants, i swear i heard one of the amused backstage dancers say :g: He did well, yes he did. Shufi, you were great man... must have been motivated by your GF in the audience, ya! *grin*
Ken & Marcus - thanks for swinging by after class to the show -_- You guys rock... and it was fun jamming after. Aloy - of course, you know how eternally grateful i am of your presence and everything  I don't think I can do all these without your support.
Thank you :)
kennection - July 11, 2006 01:04 PM (GMT)
AhLiShuFi - July 11, 2006 05:07 PM (GMT)
the kick move is my own trademark move! hahaha... never ever once been done by any other magicians!
Ning - July 11, 2006 05:48 PM (GMT)
Yeah man... it's the official "One Leg Kicking" move, inspired after the recent World Cup 06 ;) Shufi, go patent it and make your own parasol production DVD... will help you market it
jemarcus - July 12, 2006 07:32 AM (GMT)
Yea, it was great. Just the lack of audience.
Sis, i still believe you need music for those routines :|
p.s shufi, how come u didn't do the umbrella production? i so wanted to see it. :(
Ning - July 12, 2006 10:00 AM (GMT)
Music is good for silent acts, not quite for mentalism... but i'll think of ways to work around it :) Don't want music to drown out audience interaction and they can't hear me speak or lose focus on what's happening... Thanks for the suggestion tho ^_^
AhLiShuFi - July 12, 2006 04:58 PM (GMT)
Hey, i guess you still didn't know what's going on. The reason why you didn't see the umbrella production is because the curtains open before i was even ready. What you guys saw was practically almost an impromptu act. for my stage act, i need to do quite abit of preparation.. ie. loading my body, pockets... yarh... That's why. haha. Bet you didn't know it was an impromptu act! haha..
Ning - July 12, 2006 05:01 PM (GMT)
That means it went ok lah! Now you can boast you saw Shufi's Amazing Impromptu Stage Act!
AhLiShuFi - July 12, 2006 05:34 PM (GMT)
The stage act was crappy... Impromptu and not organised at all... Purely anyhow do... =(... But hope you guys enjoy it anyways.
