Title: Ultra Smoke 2000
blacktiger - June 25, 2006 03:02 PM (GMT)
Does anyone here own ultra smoke 2000? How good is it?
Aloy - June 26, 2006 07:48 AM (GMT)
Dude...if you are hoping to get a serious answer, you've gotta try to do better than post a 1 liner like that and expect to be spoon fed. Tell us more about what you wanna do with it, and think up some constructive stuff to say with your questions.
Afterall, why would people put in effort to answer you if you don't show that you have put in effort in asking the question?
Effort begets effort.
Good questions begets good answers.
1 liner posts begets no replies.

Have to agree with aloy. Anyway, ultra smoke is like what its preview mentioned, provides something extra to ur effects.
So it really depends on what kind of effects you are doing, and also where you are doing. An example, you do a color change on the street with the smoke, and doing a color change in a bar with the smoke, where you think the effect is stronger? So it really bring down to what u are doing, and where. Presentation you are giving also matters.
so giving a brief questions wont ans much, secondly, its not an effect by its own, its an add on element.

Can i know whether i must wear a long sleeve to use ultra smoke or what? Do i have to hold something to produce the smoke?
Magicdow - June 27, 2006 06:07 AM (GMT)
You have to wear long sleeves and the smokes produced are corrosive.
You might want to try another alternative FISM Flash by John Cornelius(not smoke but flash).
Daraketh - June 27, 2006 06:28 AM (GMT)
The smoke is very dangerous..
Its has hydrochloric acid in it. And it is kinda pungent. So try not to let anyone including yourself, inhale the smoke. Try not to have anything metallic on you as well because it will corrode.
You'd be better off without this product. Just my 2cents

Links??
Magicdow - June 27, 2006 07:06 AM (GMT)
Come on, you have Google right?
zib - June 27, 2006 08:55 AM (GMT)
Just a passing question about the FISM flash. I'm not sure if this should be moved to a new thread or something, but... anyway, I could only find limited details over google, with no previews whatsoever.
Which leaves me confused. It's a flash of light? The reviewers compared it to flash paper, which made me wonder if any fire was involved. Is there?
Definitely looks like a good alternative to the smoke thing, though.
Magicdow - June 27, 2006 08:57 AM (GMT)
Its like the flash from a camera.
Ning - June 27, 2006 05:43 PM (GMT)
Erm... Jeremy used it in his ciggie manipulation act during MU'06 as most of you have seen... it's generally ok to use, just don't inhale too much of the fumes cos yeah, it's not very good for health. His hand with the watch (the left one) has a patch of skin that looks raw and bumpy due to metallic contact with the smoke, so do watch out when using this product. Follow all instructions! ...Safety first, just like flash paper or any pyro product ;)

You guys would be interested to kknow that last night, while I was practising with US2000, I saw a spider in a corner of my house. I smoked it with just one direct puff and it died. Just a twitch and that was all. Died straight away. (More effective then commercial insectide which spiders are partially resistant to)
Other then that, it's great. Will be using it later tonight for some effects I will be doing over dinner with friends.

Realising how potent it is now, are you sure this is something you want to be doing over dinner?
Hearing your spider story, i'm quite convinced this is more trouble than it is worth. :P
zomaziz - August 27, 2006 01:24 PM (GMT)
Spiders are harmless! And they catch the not-so-harmless insects for you.
Can't believe it died from Ultrasmoke though. I was actually really interested in ultrasmoke. After hearing your story... I still am!
Haha~ anyway, 1 question.
If it's corrosive, how come there are warnings about the smoke coming to contact with metal, but not the skin? It will also hurt the skin, right?
(or your cards, for that matter. :ph43r: )

After the performance this evening. Everyone went crazy after the smoke effect. And yes, I did it over dinner. It rocks. Bad news though, my ET broke. I'll have to get a replacement. US2K is not as good as ET, but it sure rocks. Going to use it with the "Triumph" effect from Ninja 2 next week again and see what reactions it gets.
It is not as noticable as I thought. The sleeves can be rolled up if spectators want to examine your arms.
If you're considering this item and after hearing these "horror" stories you are reconsidering your options, my advice for you is, "Still get it".
:P
dtjk - August 27, 2006 03:43 PM (GMT)
Wow.. This seems to be good against hecklers too.. (Like ET!)
"You heckle me! Bitch!"
*Puffs to the heckler's face*
"AHH!! My eyes!! My Nose!!"
Ning - August 27, 2006 04:40 PM (GMT)
Who needs acid when you have the US2000 :ph43r:
bigbadwolf - August 28, 2006 05:44 AM (GMT)
HECKLERS!!!
Sting them in the eyes with the US2000 and follow by a zap on their chest with the Electric Touch.
MuHAHAA!! Thou shalt not anger a Mage!!!
zomaziz - August 28, 2006 09:16 AM (GMT)
As violent as it's beginning to sound, we're still on the topic! Ah yes, the multiple purposes of smoke...
(no wonder E states that it's "up to your imagination")
Anyway, it seems that you can pretty much add the smoke to any magic or even non-magic effect. (try pretending to catch something on fire..)
Hmmm. In that sense, what about ET? Wonder why they're always compared with 1 another though..
dtjk - August 28, 2006 11:29 AM (GMT)
ET sucks.. Please dont get ET.. So many people have it liao! :ph43r:
zomaziz - August 28, 2006 02:01 PM (GMT)
Aye, you're saving it for yourself, aren't you! :P
Kidding... Anyway, the same thing applies to all magic, doesn't it?
Say if everyone bought rainmaker... or UltraSmoke2000, for that matter.
That would be boring.
Magician A: I can make smoke!
Magician B: me too!
*plenty of smoke appears*
Dragon - September 3, 2006 01:28 PM (GMT)
I think i would rather spend that 200 bucks on more magical looking effects than to have a smoking sublety. That is unless I strike 4D.
joeltay81 - September 4, 2006 02:35 PM (GMT)
On Sunday, I had the funniest reaction to US2K ever. Was doing biddle and used the smoke effect for the dissapearing card part. Two of my friends laughed at the smoke effect until they almost had a stomache. Of course I said no, but did it once more for another trick sometime later. And they started laughing all over again.
Dragon - September 4, 2006 02:53 PM (GMT)
Perhaps it's you that is funny. :P
joeltay81 - September 5, 2006 11:30 AM (GMT)
Ok. Last night I sprayed 5 direct shots of USmoke 2000 at an inch-sized bettle. It just started running around faster. Did not die or show any irritation to the fumes. Guess it is only effective on some spiders.
Does anyone know what the chemical in US2k is? I thought it was HCl, but was told that HCl is colourless and give fume-like wisps of smoke.
I also noticed that the safety pin I use to attach US2000 near by sleeve opening is completely corroded. 2 weeks since I attached the device to my sleeve. That's really corrosive. Just 2 weeks!
zomaziz - September 5, 2006 01:37 PM (GMT)
You know, animal testing isn't right... :P Kidding. The product page says that the chemical is Hydrochloric Acid.
Like the acid found in the stomach. This proves that we can actually digest safety pins. Will take around 2 weeks though.
LarryDK - September 5, 2006 05:19 PM (GMT)
Hmm, It might be vapor acid, cause dry ice is too expensive, and also, you cannot really store dry ice in liquid form for very long.
Vapor acid might not be harmful to human, take an example, insectipede are killer to insects, but quite harmless to human, unless u spray like 10 over shots and inhale them directly. or else it wont do much harm to you.
But still, its not good for health. ;)
