blacktiger - June 26, 2006 12:58 PM (GMT)
Those who have geek magic dvd, can i know where to get the long balloons, cos i got some from NTUC and found that they are not very suitable, can i know where to get the perfect balloons for the balloon swallowing? Can i get it from the web or somewhere outside? Thanks.

These are known as 260s. You can get them from Concourse at Beach Road. Qualatex is the best brand for twisting but you can get other brands too.

You can get it from me too. PM me if you want.

Just an added information...

I went to Concourse not too long ago and i can't seem to find Qualatex around.
They have mostly switched to Sempertex.
They will tell you that Sempertex is just as good though most people will still prefer Qualatex. :)

And NTUC's balloon quality is not good. Don't buy those.
I bought some once for emergency use and out of ten balloons, two were already broken even before i try to pump them up...

What's the name of the shop in concourse and which storey is it located? How much are they selling at?

Magicdow - June 27, 2006 05:59 AM (GMT)
All the party supplies shops sells them. $14 per bag.

Err... They do not display them or its hard to find but you can try asking at the counter. I often go there for supplies. I asked them too when i went there for the first time. Its at the top level. Price is 15 for 260s and 16 for 260q.

The main reason why those shop switch from Qualatex to Sempertex are just because the quality of qualatex are not as good as before. They are much thinner and cost much more than Sempertex. There're a few method for balloon swallowing which I not gonna review but basically I think sempertex should work just fine for Geek's method. Concourse are selling balloons but beware that some of their stock has been kept for a long time.
Balloons too have expiry date and there's a company in SG selling that. All they do is to get a new packaging with bad quality balloon. Getting from Bernard would be a better idea.

whats the difference between 260s and 260q?

yong_tianadeline - July 7, 2006 10:22 AM (GMT)
260q???

Do you mean the difference between Sempertex and Qualatex??

I use qualatex (as most do), so I cannot comment as to the difference (although you can expect it to be minor). Since the "260" is the same, it means that the balloons would be of equal sizes (2" diameter, 60" length) when inflated.

I've used Sempertex and Qualatex before.
I think that Sempertex seemed to be thicker (either that or that the latex is not as stretchable as the Qualatex ones), resulting in a 'stiffer' balloon.
That's why I still prefer Qualatex, but its up to your own preference. :D
