Cool! ^_^

Was it from the Ultimate Card Thru Window DVD?
I dont own the DVD so I was just wondering if that was a modded version of what was taught in the video.
Erm, I'm not trying to phish here.

Anyways, I think there's too much shuffling?

Sukyi - July 22, 2006 07:41 AM (GMT)
there's a similiar concept on the ultimate card through window dvd... but it's for tv screen... but from a techie's point of view, i'd say it's totally different... from a computer illiterate person's point of view, it's probably the same thing... hehe...

*noted* too much shuffling...

Shufffffflinggggg...

Pretty good, but try to stand futher from the computer (laptop). I guess the webcam cable was a bit too short...

Sukyi - July 23, 2006 02:45 AM (GMT)
yeah... i thought of that too... but the webcam cable WAS too short... maybe next time i'll just get someone to record it using a camera or something... thanks anyway :)

Pretty neat, although I think it doesn't seem logical when you throw the cards at the screen face down, and your chosen card appears face up...

LarryDK - July 23, 2006 06:10 AM (GMT)
Well, Thats the view from magician i think, because if you are a layman, you wont know what is face up and face down, (Trust me, i know because i doing my blindfold act and ask the spec to deal the cards face up, and she asked me what is face up)

So to them, the chosen card appear in the screen, that really matters, unless they play back the "clip" over and over again, then they will realise that hey the card went in, but how come it turn face up. But it takes too long for them to realise that one. :) But no doubt, i din notice that possiblilty also. :P

Jay Sankey said something like this in one of his videos:
"They just won't realize it.. Because they're STOOPID!"

Well yeah, Larry's right, after the spec sees their selected card appear, they will be too surprised to realize such a simple thing. :)

Sukyi - July 23, 2006 06:27 AM (GMT)
hmm... i think most people have actually seen one version or another of card through window, right? and most of the time, the magician throws the cards face up and then it's on the other side, faced up. based on that, i never really thought it would be an issue, as most people would have thought it's just the same thing as the card through window.

How very true. Back when I was still a clueless audience, it never really occured to me either :P

i own the dvd, Actualli if you want to know the trick. Just get the dvd. It teaches you how to do it. From tv to even laptop.

Jaspas - July 24, 2006 11:24 AM (GMT)
They may or may not realize the irregularity, but if you are willing to take the risk of them realizing it, rather than to just turn the G** D*** pack face up. Then........<_<

Not smashing ya syuki. Just pointing out that taking unnecessary risks is dumb. And people that propogate this kinda things... Is just weird.

I think the card facing the wrong way when it appears behind a window is a logic lapse that could and should be avoided. Especially when it's as easy as just turning the deck the other way to spring it.
Good point that Droicut bought up, I've to admit i've never noticed that before.

I do not think it "ruins" the effect for turning up the wrong way, and doesn't necessarily diminishes the effect. But it's a subtlety that definitely should be deployed since we have noticed it now. Unless there's some very compelling reason NOT to turn the deck around, which i cannot imagine what.

Afterall, that's what subtleties are isn't it? Small, little, simple things that are usually not noticed by the spec, but are put in place to enhance or better an effect.
It wouldn't kill the effect without maybe....but it definitely will make it that little bit better, so why not? B)

I'm not sure if any of you realize it but I actually faced the same problem with my card thru' monitor.
I decided to palm my card to make the 'releasing effect'.
I cannot be "palming" the card face-up right?
So what should I do to avoid the specs from spotting the 'magically flipped card'?

Just a suggestion off the top of my head.

Maybe you can "push" the card thru the screen the way you "palm" it, with the back up. And when you "release" the card on the monitor, it falls and flip around to show the face.

Alternatively, you can try to find another method for you to "palm" it face up. I'm no cardician but I suspect there SHOULD be some way to do this.
Ask the cards guys.

Put the card on the face of the pack, do an Erdnase change and pretend to be "palming" the card off.

Though you do have to produce the card again at the end so I'm not sure how that would work out... Erm... Sorry lah, don't know the method.

Or pretend a palm to palm transfer, which logically would turn the card around.
:(

That was exactly what I was planning to do, but it would be awkward :(

Anyways, thanks for the ideas Aloy and Maddened, I'm reprogramming it so I might be posting the link to the new version if it in a few days time.
