Title: 'magic' Movies :)
Description: Coming our way 2006/7 *grin*
Ning - July 22, 2006 03:10 PM (GMT)

Yes, no kidding... Hollywood's on the ROLL  Your eyes aren'tkidding you, that IS Edward Norton (awesome actor from Fight Club!) doing magic on celluloid! *grin*
The movie still is grabbed from
The Illusionist page on IMDB. Jessica Biel plays Princess Sophie (er, no, nothing to do with the Davinci Code book or movie, thank you). Ed Norton plays 'Eisenheim the Illusionist' a fictional character, in this fictional happy-ever after movie (it's Hollywood people!)
And!
There's also
The Prestige starring... get this - Christian Bale & Hugh Jackman!!! They play rival magicians engaged in professional jealousy and politics (hohoho). Seems like pretty good stuff, there's even David Bowie & Michael Caine in it! Directed by the same guy who did Momento & Batman Begins, you can check out the movie trailer
here! WOOT!!!
This is amazing too, because...
Hollywood's making a movie on Houdini as well!!! :!!: Titled
Death Defying Acts, it stars Catherine Zeta-Jones & Guy Pierce (who is he? Coincidentally, he's the guy in Momento!!) :o
I thought that was all, but later, there's also this!!!
Tom Hanks and his son (he acted in Roswell, if I'm not wrong... the one with the nice theme song by Dido but the series about aliens flopped) would both be in this movie called
The Great Buck Howard which stars John Malkovich (loved him to bits in my fave movie, Being John Malkovich!) as the renowned illusionist. They're actually filming this all right now!!! ...Sources tell me though, that the magician may be played by Kevin Kline instead of John Malkovich.
...So! Is this cool or what? :g: FOUR movies about magic and magicians coming to us with all these big names... we should seriously have a SMC chill-out movie date for these! :P
Ning: Feeling really hyper right now!!!

Absolutely anticipating! 4 Magic movies to be produced :!!: with great actors like Edward Norton (one of my favourites :P ) and John Malkovich. Its a must see.
Great job Ning in recommending these movies, you've made me all psyched up for this  Yes, we should definitely arrange for a SMC movie chill out date. I'm now imagining a movie theater half-filled with magicians and probably all wearing the SMC T-shirt hehe.. :P

The pledge.
The turn.
The prestige.
Hmmm?
Ning - July 22, 2006 04:17 PM (GMT)
...The sensationalised-scripted Hollywood movie

This is probably going to be the only time when us magic folks spend more money on activities other than buying magic stuff.
That said, I'm excited! Edward Norton looks great! I'm going to start rubbing Martell on my chin and try and grow a beard like his (also start plucking my hair to create the Max Maven pattern baldness there). Heh.
Thanks Ning for letting us know about these upcoming films. Yes, SMC outings please!

Any idea they might be showing locally?
Jaspas - July 23, 2006 01:56 AM (GMT)
Who knows, probably not all four but SOME could be shown.
The pledge, the turn, the prestige. The worksings of every sucker effect.

For some reason I think I would actually avoid watching the movie you just described. I don't know why... Too many cooks perhaps.
Or that I want to actually watch a movie rather than a magic show. :P
