Title: Coin Produced, Coin Disappears.

Freeze - August 1, 2006 06:49 AM (GMT)
hi, i once saw a trick whereby the magician produces the 'magic' coin out of nowhere and with a flick the coin dissapears when he shows his two palms, he didn't even put his hand in the pocket. Wow, cool effect but i do not know what's the trick called, can anybody clarify me on that? Is it called lighning coin or something like that? Thanks for the reply.

one effect of producing the coin is called George's Old Trick if i'm not wrong. as for the coin disappearing, yes there is an effect called the Lightning Coin Vanish but it needs a gimmick, which can be constructed readily. if you're not into gimmicks, Revolution (can be found on ellusionist) is completely (for the most part) impromptu and pretty good as well.

hope that helps, bro. you could give me a call or something to clarify your doubts. ;)

Actually, there are many ways to vanish a coin and able to show both hands empty without using gimmicks.

Think you can find it in
1. Cultural Exchange by Apollo & Shoot Ogawa,
2. Revolutionary Coin Magic by Jay Sankey,
3. Expert Coin Magic by David Roth. (Highly recommended for coin lovers!)

Or you can use some subtleties to show both hands "seemed" empty. Can also be found in the above titles.

PS: Anyway, the technique to produce the coin in George's Old Trick is called Down's P*** (if I'm not wrong). Brad just used that technique as a stand-alone trick, just like what he did with French Drop in Inside Magic. There are in fact a lot of applications for that move.

I think you have just descrbed a whole lot of effects with that description Freeze, especially if you count the "made for camera" ones.

I think would be more interesting to think about what kinda routines you can come up with to utilise those methods.
Call me old fashioned but Revolution is just not so interesting by itself.....
You made a coin disappear....so?

Read Bobo's Coin Magic!!!! It's the Bible for Coin Magic

Just one coin? the effect is not very strong IMO. What about three coins production, and you vanish all three coins one at a time, showing both palm and reproduce the three coins? HARDCORE SLEIGHTS, no gimmick.

The routine is called NERD by shoot ogawa. Shoot ogawa is just a GENIUS.

:off:

You can try Kino or Borders... most magic dealers have it too but prices are honestly more competitive from bookshops because the rights of this book is now in public domain :) It's not expensive either, so Bobo's Coin Magic is really a good investment if you're serious about coin work!

what was he wearing?
Coat?

Freeze - August 6, 2006 06:04 PM (GMT)
Nope. It was kind of a street magic thing. He was just wearing a casual t shirt. He just did a throwing motion and it was gone. Poof.

Sounds like the "Hoo Coin" to me. It's an old gimmick but it still fools even knowledgable magicians. However, there are many ways to accomplish the trick with sleight of hand and no gimmicked coins. It would be worth learning a few of the ways.

it's called throwing the coin! :ph43r:

But seriously, it might just be a sleight move that hides the coin.

I think you're refering to Vanish In Air found in this site http://www.newmagicsecrets.com/ which is undergoing some changes now. This effect has gotten some good reviews.

 this book can be found?in borders ect local bookstore?

HarapanOng - September 24, 2006 06:45 AM (GMT)
I could never understand why people would waste money on a gimmick just to vanish one coin. As a stand-alone trick even.

Coin productions are lovely, especially from an empty hand, shown fairly.
In my opinion, producing one coin as opposed to three coins can be much more beautiful and elegant.

On Bobo coin magic, yea some local bookstore carry it, try kinokuniya. Be warned, it was originally published in 1950s. Nevertheless, it is indeed a bible for coin magic.
